All Things Old And Quirky
I've always been fascinated by other eras and I've always felt as though I was born in the wrong time period. As luck would have it I had a grandmother who collected all sorts of things from her childhood through her later years, when she and her sister managed their church thrift shop. She especially loved "gadgets" and "do-dads" and I guess she passed her love of all things old and quirky on to me. She was also a story teller, so everything she gave to me came with a story about where it came from, it's history, or how she came upon it. Maybe that's why I love to write long descriptions about the items in my shop.
I've received convos and emails from a lot of the people who have bought items from me and I'm thrilled to say that many of the items I've sold now belong to great new owners. My treasures have been passed down to a new generation who value the history of the item as well as it's quirkiness and this makes me believe they'll be good stewards and caretakers of these items for years to come. This makes me very happy, because I love keeping the past in the present.
I also have two other shops at Etsy that are currently inactive: 2Good2BeThrough and ZilahRose.
"GLAD SIGHT WHEREVER NEW WITH OLD"
Glad sight wherever new with old
Is joined through some dear homeborn tie;
The life of all that we behold
Depends upon that mystery.
Vain is the glory of the sky,
The beauty vain of field and grove,
Unless, while with admiring eye
We gaze, we also learn to love.
William Wordsworth 1845
