Welcome. I am so honored that you have come by to look around. Although "TinkerMelz" just started a few years ago, I realized that basically all my life I have been learning elements to make TinkerMelz a success. Since I have been introduced to woodworking in 7th grade I have been hooked. I learn more and more each and every day by trial and error. My mom has always loved antiques and refinishing them. I learned how to strip, sand and stain all from her. After high school I went on to become a cosmetologist. Until just a couple years ago I realized that I am a creative soul and I need an outlet for my creativeness. Fast forward to 2003. I was married and had a 2 yr old little boy, I was living the american dream until August of that year when my life got uprooted and destroyed. My 2 yr old little man was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor called medulloblastoma with malignant tumors in his spine. We were fortunate enough to be able to go to St.Jude Childrens Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. He was given a 10% chance of survival. In July this year he will be 10 years cancer free. I know wipe your tears! I am BLESSED. So how can we ever pay them back for saving my sons life? We do a lot of public speaking on awareness of childhood cancer and St.Jude. So my best friend of 20 yrs who happens to be my fiance now told me that I should open my own shop. I knew that having a brick and mortar store was not possible. Even though my son is cancer free he does have special needs and it is not something that I could do. One of my sons nurses told me about Etsy. So here we are. My son is my biggest inspiration and my biggest helper. He is 12 now and loves to help me build and use power tools and most of all, paint.

I love to try new things and am constantly trying new things. It may be a new paint mixture or decorative application. My favorite is to build and recycle. I like to take broken things and make them new again or turn them into something totally different. I use reclaimed items in almost everything I make.......more to come

I do offer "lay-a-way" I will reserve items and hold items for you. Just send me an email with what item or items you are interested in and we can set something up. I am easy to work with.

I also do combined shipping
Please note that usps has increased the shipping rates.

If you purchase more than one items If possible I do combined shipping. Note that it is not always possible if you are purchasing multiples that are large. I do this a couple of ways: you can convo me ahead of time and I can figure out the shipping ahead of time or after I have it packaged up and ready to ship I can send you a refund. Refunds are given right as soon as I print up the shipping label. I then email you to let you know what the refund is and to expect it.

I use all recycled products for packaging when I can. You might find crumpled up newspaper or magazine pages in your box and your box may be made out of a couple of boxes to make a bigger one. If buble wrap is needed then I use it but I do buy it. Everything is shipped safe and secure.

For large packages I generally send it via UPS or Fedex
For smaller packages I send via USPS
Both insured

If you want more than one thing convo me and I will combine shipping.

If you are buying a gift for someone I can send it to the "giftee"

I will ship internationally. Please contact me with your country and I will get you a shipping price.
Refunds and Exchanges
I ship everything insured. If you get something and it is broken, please contact me with a photo of the broken item and bubble wrap packaging ect. Then we can file a claim. I will either refund your money (less shipping) or replace your item for you at no charge.

Before a refund can be issued for damages, you will be sent an affidavit from our insurance carrier. You MUST complete and return the affidavit before a refund will be issued. You will receive a shipping refund on damaged items only. I do take photos of the item as It is packaged and sent to you. If you receive the item damaged please take very clear photos of the item and the packaging to be able to receive your refund.
Additional policies and FAQs
Shabby Chic, Cottage and Romantic Decor are my specialties. Everything I sell is either vintage or a one of a kind creation. I paint almost all items with layers and layers of paint and distress them. Some heavy some lightly so nothing is "perfect" All items are sold in great used condition unless otherwise noted in the listing. I will disclose any cracks or flaws in the item and generally the item will be a little bit cheaper.

The part of my job that I love the best is looking for special and unique items. If you are looking for something special let me know what you are looking for and I will try my darndest to find it. It's all in the thrill of the hunt.

If you really like something I have but want it painted a different color I can generally paint it a different color. I do have several jewelry boxes that are ready to be transformed so if you are wanting a customized one please contact me and I will send you photos of what I have and you let me know how you wish it to be done. Examples would be the color and what the insides should look like.

Custom orders must be paid before I start working on them. This includes modifying items already listed, or creating duplicates of items.
Keep in mind, as most of my items are one of a kind, and made with vintage, reclaimed, recycled or salvaged materials, I cannot guarantee that a "duplicate" will be exactly the same as the original.

Custom orders will typically cost more than the item currently listed . I do require full payment first before I start your custom order. This is due to the fact that I will also be driving about looking for the right look for you. I do charge for the time I will spend looking for the items, contacting , supplies, labor etc; My work come highly respected and customers do trust my judgement with finding the right items for their custom orders.
