Absolutely gorgeous! Great quality and looks extremely expensive. I can’t wait to wear this for a ball we were invited to.

From the time I’ve had to look at it considering it was shipped to my place of work, I love it. The mask and hat looks absolutely amazing. I didn’t have much time to look at anything else, but I’m sure I’ll love it just as much

After purchasing a hat, this mantle was the last major piece I needed to add that extra something. The combination of the two really brings together the costume.

The mantle is very well made, and communication from the seller was very fast and helpful. Shipping was fast. I couldn’t be happier with the entire process and product

I have been searching for a hat like this, without exaggerating, for around 5 years. And I can happily say that it had been worth the search. Combined with the mantle, my plague doctor costume is almost complete. Numerous attendees at my local renaissance festival asked for pictures and/or gave me compliments on how well it all looks together. I’m super happy with the addition of these two pieces.

Shipping was very quick, and the work is very well done.

Excellent customer service and very fast to answer questions about product. Incredibly fast shipping and very well packaged; including a modified box to protect the hat. I appreciate the care instructions included. Product itself is perfect. The mask is lightweight, fits well over glasses and is easy to breath without fogging. Great buy, thank you.

Tom's Story

I have no formal art training, and am largely self-taught. As a child I was fascinated with helmets and other hats, and I collected them. My love affair with leather began in 1972 when I got a job at Lake Tahoe making belts, purses and sandals. Four years later I started a business designing and making men’s Western leather hats which sold all over the United States. After selling that business I dabbled in woodcarving for a number of years which led eventually to learning how to cast in resin.

My business than became casting custom resin trophies and figurines, which I did for many years, and much of that work consisted of imitating other materials: bronze, marble, wood, etc. In 2008 I discovered leather maskmaking and that has been my passion—and my business—ever since.

In my creative leatherwork I draw on my experience with resin and incorporate resin components into my steampunk artwork, and the combination of materials gives a richer look than I could achieve in either material alone.

Today I find my greatest creative expression in fantasy masks. I love experimenting and seeing how leather behaves when cut and soaked and twisted. I love the shapes and the colors, and how my masks and helmets can instantly transform the wearer into a whole other character.

My studio is in the small rural town of Penn Valley, in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains in northern California.

CARING FOR YOUR MASK
The leather masks are quite durable. When storing them, keep them in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. The worst enemy is water, as the masks will soften and distort when wet, so don't wear them in the rain, in the pool, or in the shower. Heat will dry them out and make the leather crack. No regular maintenance is required. If they become soiled, wipe with a soft cloth.
