About

It is my goal to create shoe designs that will make my customers smile each time they wear them.

When I was a little girl, I found some tiny glittery flowers in the foyer of our house. Since I was unable to find the source of the mysterious flowers, I concluded that there was only one logical explanation: fairies. Yes, I was certain that fairies had flown into the house and dropped tiny pink flowers in the entranceway, and I spent the rest of the day searching for them. My goal was to find and befriend the fairies so that they would help me; like how those cute little mice helped Cinderella. (It wasn’t until the next day that I discovered the flowers had fallen off of a wreath my mother had hung on our front door. But that’s beside the point.)

Looking back, I miss the days when my imagination ran wild with fantastic ideas and creative explanations. I was the little girl who searched for fairies, and set up traps to try to catch leprechauns. I believed that I could make a time-machine out of a shoebox, and that I could fly to school if I attached wings to my bicycle. There were no limits or doubts. Anything seemed possible.

This is why I am so passionate about art. Painting allows me to free my mind and let my imagination run wild like it did when I was little; un-muddied by the restrictions of reality. Art is so much more than painting, drawing, and sculpture. Art is magical. It can take you back in time, or transport you to the future; it can express those thoughts and emotions that are too complex for words; it can turn something mundane into something beautiful and profound. Art transcends logic, reason, language, and limitations.

In 2010 I discovered TOMS; a company with a mission to help people in need. I was inspired by their “One for One” motto, and knew that I wanted to be involved somehow. So painting the shoes was a natural fit. What better canvas to paint on than one that is, in itself, inspiring?

I started out by painting shoes for my friends and family, and little by little my business grew. I started taking orders, and creating new designs. It is my ultimate goal to create shoe designs that will make my customers smile each time they wear them. After all, who couldn’t use a little extra joy in their day?

I now live in Chicago where I am a senior in college, majoring in Industrial & Product Design. I also work part-time as a Graphic Design & Marketing Specialist. Some people have asked me how I have time to fill all of the custom shoe orders that I receive while balancing school, work, and everything else. I tell them all the same thing, “I make time, because it’s a labor of love.” I love painting; I love helping the TOMS cause; and I love hearing from happy customers who enjoy wearing the shoes as much as I enjoy making them. Besides, if I need to, I can always ask the fairies for help.

Additional policies and FAQs
PLEASE NOTE: Because these shoes are ordered directly from the TOMS company, and then have to be hand-painted, production of your order can take anywhere from 4-6 weeks (not including shipping time). Please keep this in mind when placing your order.

Variability is inherent due to the nature of this product. These shoes are all hand-painted (no stencils, stamps, or anything of the like are ever used); they are different sizes; they are an uneven surface; and I mix all of my own paint colors by hand. Because of this, no two pairs of shoes will be exactly alike.

All of the photos shown are of shoes that have been hand-painted by me personally (just as your shoes will be.) I use high quality acrylic paint on all of my designs, which creates a flexible and durable finish. High quality products and customer satisfaction are my top priorities.
