About TonicoftheWoods

It all started with making a miniature newspaper dress.

As an author and a reporter for a local newspaper in Maine, I got the idea one day to make a tiny dress from newspaper, forming it over the body of a Barbie Doll.

I have always loved miniatures since I received my first dollhouse from my grandfather Mikey when I was 10.

But of course, you grow out of that phase. Or at least I did, until two things came together, a trip to Ireland to research my latest novel and making that miniature newspaper dress. Suddenly I was struck by the idea to make natural dresses from materials I could find on my own property, then combine my Celtic research with little microstories that went with each one.

That idea spread to others and soon I was also making literary miniature dresses from iconic novels and poems such as my Edna St. Millay winged dress and my Flapper series from F. Scott Fitzgerald novels.

Just like that...I was obsessed with making miniature things again. With the help of my husband, who crafts miniature paintings and makes handmade miniature fairy furniture with me, we created Tonic of The Woods.

I make miniature paper dresses from classic short stories and iconic novels as well as "Wee Folk" Irish fairy dresses and tiny fairy furniture from forest materials. I also make tiny "Room of One's Own" writing nooks for writers.

No, I will refund you the difference. I will combine the orders into one package. If one of the items is listed as fragile, it will be double packaged and sent Priority. If I can ship the multiple orders (they are so light) into one package, I will calculate how much the total shipping cost was and refund you the difference.
