Mug-Nificent Gift Ideas!

ToonedUp might seem like a simple concept, but it’s creation is not a simple story. It starts almost 400 years ago on a little boat called the Mayflower. Heard of it?

Samuel Mortimer Karazi was below deck. He had accidentally boarded the ship thinking it was a tuna store. When he finally realized he was on a ship that was escaping the tyrannical English monarchy he was already a half way across the Atlantic.

Samuel gulped hard. He was thinking of his wife Winnie. He had promised to cook dinner that night. He was sure she must have assumed he had left her to get out of cooking. That would be his style. Samuel was very lazy.

When the Captain heard there was an accidental stowaway aboard his ship he summoned Samuel. The Captain wondered aloud if there was any reason that he shouldn’t toss Samuel overboard and turn him into Kraken cacciatore. Samuel summoned his courage and replied in a quiet voice, “Cups.”

“Cups?” the Captain replied.

The ship had enough cups the Captain explained. Then Samuel went into more detail. You see, Samuel had a drinking problem. Samuel was very good at drinking out of cups. Any cup he found he drank. This was of no use to the Captain so Samuel was once again thrown below deck.

Samuel survived on scraps. Once in a blue moon he would get that tuna he was looking for all along. His health began to wane. During a scurvy induced fever dream, Samuel spoke to a wooden cup for three days. He thought the cup was his captain.

Samuel did make it to the New World but was forever labeled as “Crazy Cup Guy.” The natives called him, “Drunk Man Who Speaks to Cups.”

Almost four hundred years later Old Man Karazi’s descendant, Samuel K the 10th, has honored his ancestor by drawing faces on cups. Enjoy your ToonedUp item! Over 400 years in the making!

  • Sam K

Sam Karazi was born into the arts world. As a young teenager he worked with Salvador Dali. No, not on any art projects. He fed Dali’s pet ant eater. Which is a shame because Sam hates bugs. But a jobs is a job ya know?
