Per tutta la mia vita mio padre ha avuto protesi dentarie e questo è l'inizio del motivo per cui sono arrivato a questo punto con le cupole dei denti in particolare. Avanti veloce fino alla metà degli anni '20, i miei genitori si sono appena trasferiti nella loro nuova casa dopo essersi trasferiti dalla casa in cui sono cresciuto. Mio padre stava tramandando alcuni oggetti che aveva disimballato e mi ha detto di tendermi la mano. Ha lasciato cadere quattro denti nel mio palmo, tutti di tipi diversi e ha indicato l'enorme molare con l'otturazione di platino e dice: "Quello faceva male come un figlio di puttana". Questo è molto tipico di mio padre avere oggetti casuali a cui si è aggrappato per decenni, ma il motivo per cui non aveva mai menzionato questi denti prima mi fa ancora grattare la testa. Invece di gettarli in un cassetto, volevo conservare il dente in modo da poterlo guardare quando volevo. Prima di allora, non avevo mai visto un'otturazione di platino o anche un dente così grande dalla bocca. Quindi è stato collocato in una cupola di vetro e mi ha fatto pensare a come questo potesse essere fatto con altri denti ed è stato un viaggio completamente nuovo da lì. Grazie papà.
My whole life my dad has had dentures and this is the beginning of why I got to this point with the teeth domes specifically. Fast forward to my mid 20’s, my parents just moved into their new house after moving from the house I grew up in. My dad was passing down some items he unpacked and told me to hold out my hand. He dropped four teeth into my palm, all different types and pointed to the huge molar with the platinum filling and says, “That one hurt like a son of a bitch.” This is very typical of my dad to have random items he’s held onto for decades but why he had never mentioned these teeth before still has me scratching my head. Instead of throwing these in a drawer, I wanted to preserve the tooth so I could look at it whenever I wanted. Before that, I had never seen a platinum filling or even a tooth that large out of the mouth. So it was placed in a glass dome and it got me thinking about how this could be done with other teeth and it was a whole new journey from there. Thanks Dad.
