Kumihimo is the ancient Japanese art form of braiding. Samurai used the cords as a decorative cords to lace their armor.

Kumihimo braided cords are still used today as ties on hatoris and as obijime.

An obijime is a cord that is wrapped around and tied over the top of the obi (sash) of traditional kimonos.

Kumihimo has become a way to make intricate bracelets and necklaces.
