Hoe alles begon
How everything started
Trailing Around is eigenlijk ontstaan uit mijn liefde voor langeafstandswandelen. Sinds mijn achttiende heb ik over de hele wereld wandelpaden verkend: ik heb door de woestijnen van Jordanië gewandeld, Israël doorkruist, Nieuw-Zeeland doorkruist en zelfs Lapland bezocht. Ik heb heel wat tijd op het pad doorgebracht.
Gaandeweg realiseerde ik me dat een van de beste manieren om het voltooien van een wandeltocht te vieren, is met een badge op je rugzak, iets dat je prestatie markeert. Maar voor veel routes deden de beschikbare badges geen recht aan de schoonheid van het pad zelf. Dus begon ik mijn eigen badges te ontwerpen.
De reactie was overweldigend. Mensen bleven maar vragen of ze er ook een konden krijgen. Toen besloot ik mijn Etsy-winkel te openen, Trailing Around. Wat begon als een persoonlijk project is uitgegroeid tot een kleine winkel waar mede-wandelaars en avonturiers patches kunnen vinden die de geest van de paden waar ze van houden echt weerspiegelen.
Ik ontwerp alleen patches en stickers voor routes die ik zelf heb afgelegd. Dit garandeert dat elk ontwerp de route die het vertegenwoordigt, echt eer aandoet en weerspiegelt. Voorbeelden hiervan zijn:

Trailing Around actually started from my love for long-distance hiking. Ever since I was 18, I’ve explored trails all over the world-hiking through the deserts of Jordan, trekking across Israel, wandering the lenght of New Zealand and even venturing into Lapland. I’ve spent a lot of time on the trail.
Along the way, I realized that one of the best ways to celebrate completing a hike is with a patch on your backpack, something that marks your achievement. But for many trails, the patches available didn’t do justice to the beauty of the trail itself. So, I started designing my own patches.
The response was amazing. People kept asking if they could get one too. That’s when I decided to open my Etsy shop, Trailing Around. What began as a personal project has grown into a small shop where fellow hikers and adventurers can find patches that truly reflect the spirit of the trails they love.
I only create patches and stickers for trails I have personally completed. This ensures that each design truly honors and reflects the trail it represents. Those include:
