Totally beautiful! Thank you.

I bought these earrings as a Mothers Day present for my sister who loves art deco style, as do I. We both love them. They look even better in actuality than they did in the photograph. The pearls' iridescence draws the eye and the pattern's asymmetry maintains visual interest. The little twists around the hoops are an added bonus. The craftsmanship is excellent. I was later than I should have been getting the order in in time for Mothers Day, but Clare saved the day and made sure they arrived in time. Thank you Clare!!

It is some plastic, not the glass, shameful in view of the exorbitant price !

I am very sorry you were not fully satisfied with your necklace. The amber in the piece is absolutely not "plastic," but high quality genuine natural baltic amber, obtained from a reputable seller, and was tested for authenticity. Sometimes people new to amber are confused by its light weight and warm touch (it is a natural resin, not a stone, and does not feel like other stones). I want my customers to be happy, and I have offered you the opportunity to return the piece for a refund of your purchase price, even though it was a custom order. You have insisted on reimbursement without returning it. I'm sorry you were not willing to work with me toward a win-win solution.
Designing & Crafting with Gemstones and Metals
I started out making jewelry to indulge my love of gemstones; it meant I could afford to buy quality stones that I never would have been able to indulge in in a finished piece. Whether it is a simple strand of gemstone beads or a bezeled stone piece, creating with stones is always a delight and also very grounding. And working with metal is simply great fun-- even through the frustrations and challenges.
I am a certified Art Clay (silver metal clay) instructor, and partly trained and partly self-taught in metalsmithing. I design and make all my pieces myself in my home studio (aka the second bedroom), where I have soldering, forging, and casting stations, as well as kiln and a design corner. I do purchase most of my chains, some of my clasps, and, for now, my venetian glass (which is handmade by the seller); I buy these in the U.S. from reputable dealers. All other work is my own.
I prefer to work with genuine gems. I take care to purchase my stones from lapidary shops and artists who know their trade, and keep a constant watch out for the many and ever new fakes that flood the market, especially stones that get passes off as turquoise and malachite and such.
I also never use plated or "toned" metals-- silver is silver (fine or sterling), and my gold is all gold filled (I am looking forward to the day when I can afford to work with karat gold, which is still a little steep at close to $1030 per ounce). Lately I have also been adding some classic bronze work-- bronze is a copper/tin alloy which can offer a beautiful range of shades and wonderful antiquated patinas, and can be shaped and formed in ways not possible with gold filled. My bronze pieces are all sealed for wearability and pendants are typically hung on gold filled chains.
Owner, Maker, Designer, Curator
love the concrete sensual quality of jewelry making-- working with the colors, shapes, and textures of stone and metal brings together so many of the elements that draw me to art. And playing with fire is alway a plus!
