About

“Invisible threads are the strongest ties.” ― Friedrich Nietzsche

I found myself to be one thread in the tapestry of the natural world when I moved to the high mountains of the Trinity Alps in Northern California. The feel of soft natural fibers moving through my fingers links me to the reality in which I live. The textiles offered in my shop, Treadlers, are hand woven by me. Any hand spun yarn used in their making is spun by my own hands.

Warm and comfortable to touch and wear, natural fiber textiles are signature touchstones for interdependence and an ethical choice. They provide a tangible link to a sustainable future for our world, ourselves, our children, the very creatures who produce the fibers, and those creatures’ caregivers. Knowing the ingredients in your clothing, like knowing the ingredients in your food, is important. Knowing that your handwoven natural fiber textile will keep you warm, feel good, look great and serve you well for many years to come is important too. Everything is connected.
