About

Vintage Treasures and Hand Crafted Sterling Silver Spoon Rings

Welcome to my shop! I opened Treasure Grotto in April of 2012 with a handful of vintage items and a dream of something special. I’ve always been fascinated with antiques, especially the flowing lines and nature-inspired patterns of the Art Nouveau period. Each piece has a story to tell, having been treasured and passed from one hand to the next for over a hundred years.

As my collection of antique sterling silver spoons grew, I decided it was time to take my shop to the next level and incorporate my jewelry making skills learned many years ago while working in the fine jewelry industry. I started up-cycling old sterling silver flatware. Using the beautiful floral patterns of the late 1800's and early 1900's I hand craft these antique treasures into rings, pendants and bracelets.

Sterling silver spoons which were once given as gifts, collected as souvenirs and passed down through generations have survived the ravages of time but are often left to sit in drawers or boxes, unseen and unappreciated in today's fast paced world. I transform these spoons into wearable art for today's woman.

The process is delicate because the spoons are often 100 years old, or older, and who knows what they have been through during that time. Using my experience and skills learned in the fine jewelry business, I cut, shape, smooth, and fire each piece to create the jewelry, then finish each one by hand to bring the glow of the antique silver back to life.

By providing details about the original spoon maker and the approximate date the flatware was produced I am able to give my customer a bit of history to go with their jewelry. Often these old pieces are engraved and/or dated since it was common practice to give spoons as gifts for special occasions, and souvenir spoons were very popular collector items. Some American silver manufacturers produced spoons for each state and nearly every major city in the US, and many manufacturers produced elaborate floral collections and sold flower of the month series spoons.

Today these treasures find new life as jewelry from Treasure Grotto in an eco-friendly process that recycles the old silver while preserving the beauty of the original creations. I welcome special orders, so please contact me if you would like something special created just for you! Thank you for visiting Treasure Grotto!

I make every effort to bring to you, my Etsy shoppers, the most finely-crafted antique spoon rings at the most competitive prices. I am accepting special orders and requests for particular flower patterned spoon rings, although availability of these antique items is limited. Please convo me with your special requests, and THANK YOU for shopping Treasure Grotto!

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy gift cards
Payment
PAYMENT - I accept payment with all major credit cards plus Paypal through Etsy direct checkout. You may also use an Etsy gift card to checkout.

RESERVE - Most of my rings are one of a kind either vintage or handmade from antique spoons which are rare, so if you see something you really want, but you just need a few days to gather the funds, please convo me so I can reserve the item for you. I will work out the details of reserve on a case by case basis.

LAYAWAY - In the event that you would like to make payments on an item, please convo me to work out a layaway plan to suit your needs. I understand that people live within a budget and I'm willing to assist in helping you get that ring you really want without breaking the bank. I will make a custom listing for you for any layaway item. If you need to cancel a layaway, the funds paid on a layaway item may be applied to another item in the shop, but are not refundable.
Shipping
DOMESTIC - I usually ship within two days after payment has been received, sometimes I can manage to even ship it the same day, mostly depending on if the ring needs to be sized. I try to acknowledge every order right away and confirm details such a size needed, etc. I will work with you to get your ring to you - or sent out to someone else as a gift - as quickly as possible.

You will receive a notification of the tracking number once your package has shipped. I use first class mail with tracking and every item is insured. Most items within the USA arrive in about 5 to 7 days depending on the USPS. If you need something faster, just convo me and I'll be happy to work out a plan to make that happen.

INTERNATIONAL - International items are shipped First Class International USPS mail unless other arrangements are made. I track them and insure as a rule if it is possible to do so. If a country is deemed to risky and there is no insurance offered through UPIC (the Etsy 3rd party insurance) or through USPS, then shipping is at your risk. I'll do my very best to get your item safely to you, but I can only control it from my end.

Items shipped internationally may be subject to customs. I have no control (or knowledge) of your country's customs policies, so please check with your local customs office for details. You will be responsible for any customs fees. That said, it has been my experience that most of my items do not get tagged for fees in customs. Knives generally cannot be shipped internationally, so be sure to check those details prior to purchase because I cannot be held responsible if your item is seized by customs. In compliance with the 2014 EU selling rules, in the event of a return the original shipping cost is not refundable and the return shipping is the responsibility of the Buyer. All customs fees are the responsibility of the Buyer.
Refunds and Exchanges
HAND MADE - My spoon rings and handmade jewelry are custom crafted by me, and I stand behind my work 100%. Your ring will arrive with instructions to assist you in caring for your jewelry and making minor size changes yourself.

In the event that your ring needs to be sized more, please contact me for assistance. I want you to be happy with your ring, so if you have any issues with it at all, please contact me right away so we can resolve the issue.

If you need to exchange it for a different ring because it's just not what you expected/wanted/thought it would be, that is not a problem. Just convo me to discuss the details and I will help you find the perfect ring. I prefer to keep all spoon ring sales final, and to make exchanges rather than refunds.

VINTAGE ITEMS - Many of my items are vintage items, and as such may have minor wear or imperfections. I will do my very best to clearly describe the items in detail and to show photographs of all items front and back. If you have any questions at all, either before or after a sale, please contact me with your concerns so we may address the issue. I strive for 100% customer satisfaction!

If you are unhappy with your item DUE TO AN ERROR IN THE LISTING you may return it within 7 days of purchase for a refund with return shipping your responsibility. Returns on custom orders are not accepted. Returns for reasons other than an error in the listing are not accepted. I want you to be happy with your purchase, so please be sure to ask questions prior to purchase.

In compliance with the new 2014 EU selling rules, in the event of a return the original shipping cost is not refundable and the return shipping cost is the responsibility of the Buyer. All customs fees are the responsibility of the Buyer. Returned items will have all shipping and customs charges deducted from the amount credited once the item has been received back in the shop in it's original condition.

INSURANCE - I usually insure all items through either the USPS or through the private insurance provided through Etsy's Direct Checkout. In the event that a package does not arrive, we must wait the proscribed number of days before the insurance company will allow a claim to be made. The Buyer must provide the necessary documents as requested by the insurance and I will do likewise. Once the insurance claim has been paid, I will make the refund for the lost item. No refunds will be made prior to the insurance company's payment of the claim.

I have a personal spoon collection of many spoons mot yet make into jewelry, so I might just have the thing you are searching for!
