Sketching and water coloring my Winter 2016 Formal Collection
Innovative fashion and accessories take shape in New Orleans.
My line began with the desire to bring art-focused fashion to Baton Rouge one summer when I was stuck in summer school and most the students left campus. Two friends and I succeeded with horizontal vinyl circular skirts four feet in diameter and formal dresses crafted from iridescent shower curtains. Our first runway show included fire spinning.
Since then, I have created editorial focused work including my elemental collars which adapt and obsession of mine since high school: fire, water, earth, and air. I have also proudly participated in competitions with RAW artists and won the Wildhouse Fashion Competition while designing demi-couture for New Orleanians.
Today, I am working to make my collection adaptable to current trends but faithful to my artistic mind. I aim to experiment with as many textures, unusual fabrics and solid designs as I can while being faithful to the climate and needs of my surroundings. My search for the vintage takes me to flea markets and Magazine street to find antique chains to fuel my headpieces and body harnesses.
