Artist on a mission to save cats...

I'm an artist and graphic designer...

Normally I would tell you more about all that in the description below, but recently my life changed when I learned my kitten was diagnosed with a fatal disease. Since then, the purpose of my Etsy shop has changed.

Instead of telling you about my artwork, I am going to share Catthew's story to raise awareness. Funds raised will be donated to other struggling pet parents, now that my kitty has finished treatment, an observation period, and is now cured.

Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) is a rare disease that has been considered to be fatal until recently. Now there is hope thanks to an experimental treatment called GS441524. This treatment has shown to be effective in clinical trials, but is still not able to be offered by veterinarians and it is quite expensive.

You can show your support by buying a warrior-branded bandana or patch!

My FIP Warrior's Story

September of 2020 – I was running errands one day and stopped by Home Depot. While driving slowly through the parking lot, I noticed a small 5-week old kitten scurry under the vehicle in front of me. In a panic, I threw my car in park and ran towards the driver ahead, probably flailing like a crazy person. Luckily the driver stopped, allowing me to retrieve the exhausted kitten and bring him home. As we nourished the little guy back to health, my husband got attached and started calling him Catthew. It was then I knew he would become an official member of the household. Weeks later we adopted a sister for him.

Death Sentence

December 19, 2020 – Our kitty began to run a fever, became lethargic, and lost interest in food and playing. All he wanted to do was sleep. His veterinarian diagnosed him with FIP, informing me that this disease is always fatal. We were sent home with pain meds to enjoy our last days together.

New Found Hope

December 22, 2020 – After coming to terms that we would have to say goodbye, I started to realize his new sister would also grieve his loss and need a new playmate. I reached out to the organization we adopted her from to see if her biolgical brother was still available and explained our situation.

The representative told me FIP is no longer a death sentence and directed me to a group called FIP Warriors. Once I was connected with the group, we started him on treatment. The results after only one dose were impressive. Our little guy ate part of his breakfast and seemed to have a little bit more energy. That day, and every day since he's had a big appetite and is back to his sweet, but playful self!

Catthew has successfully have finished his treatment, but there are many other cat's who need help and are struggling to fundraise.

All funds raised in my shop (art prints and jewelry included) will be donated to a different kitty in need every month.
