About

Jewelry for the Statement, the Everyday, the One-Of-A-Kind

Ttereve is a handcrafted jewelry line featuring hand-selected, one-of-a-kind natural stones, mineral specimens and semi-precious gemstones paired with brass, silver, and copper metalwork. Produced in limited edition runs and predominantly one-of-a-kind designs focusing on organic and modern styling.

Designer:
Cassandra Hackworth is a jewelry designer and metalsmith living and working in the hills of the Willamette Valley near Portland, Oregon. A self-taught artist and avid rockhound, she shares her artistic passions by combining metal and stone into natural accessories.

In Her Own Words:
“My mom tells this story of me as a child, where one day she had a group of ladies over and when she opened the freezer to serve some refreshments a barrage of my rocks, sticks, pinecones and frozen mud came spilling out. I spent my days buried in books, experimenting, crafting and creating with everything I could get my hands on; not much has changed. Rockhounding runs in the family and with my love of science and art, turning to jewelry design that highlights nature’s beauty was an instinctive progression. I was blessed with the opportunity to build houses with my dad and grandfather in my youth and credit this experience to much of the ingenuity being a self-taught designer requires. Past aside, my days now are filled with everything running a creative business entails. Traveling around on the hunt for unique rocks and minerals has led me to build a network of local lapidary artists to supplement and expand my design work. Oregon has a diverse geology and many of my agates, jaspers and petrified woods are collected and mined within the state.
I live with a wonderful supporting partner that puts up with the hammering, sawing and drilling at all hours of the day and night. He often teases me when he catches me sneaking out to my workbench in the middle of the night to have a snack and work on a project, he proclaims “I swear you never sleep!” We’ve discovered a mutual love for entrepreneurial endeavors and enjoy cooking meals together and recharge with competitive games of disc (frisbee) golf.
Outside of my passion for designing jewelry you’ll often find me cuddling with the most adorable chihuahua Chewy, and almost constantly snacking on enormous bowls of fresh fruit.“

Studio:
Ttereve’s workshop is a home based studio perched high on a lush green hill, surrounded by ferns, towering evergreens and shaded by old oak trees. Cassandra works while watching the weather roll across the valley and the hillside’s trees change with the seasons. Available for appointments, she meets with local clients wishing to view the current collection in person and for custom design collaborations and fittings.

Materials:
Metals- Raw Brass, Silver and Copper
Raw brass is a warm metal, complimentary to complexions and pairs perfectly with organic materials. The gold tones develop a lovely patina overtime as each piece is worn and loved.
Silver is modern, sleek, and creates a more edgy contrast between stone and metal. Equally alluring in a bright, polished finish and a softer antiqued or blackened patina.
*many designs in brass are available to custom order in silver
Copper is an essential element that teams nicely with the natural energies of stones and minerals. Taking a patina beautifully, copper is the ideal metal for showcasing texture with polished highs and darkened recesses.
Organics- Stones, Minerals and Semi-Precious Gemstones
Frequenting the line are Labradorite, Agate, Jasper, Petrified Wood, Amethyst, Crystal Quartz, Kyanite, Tourmaline, Turquoise, Chrysoprase, Chrysocolla, Amazonite, Pyrite, Lapis, Opal, Fluorite, Fossils, Geodes and specimens showcasing druzy (exposed crystal matrix)

Process:
Stones are sourced in person, hand-selected and collected. The design process is a collaboration between shaping a stone to fit a design and finding a stone that shapes its own design. All pieces are created with a high level of detail and care, focusing on the process and the handwork involved in each step. Predominately one-of-a-kind in nature due to the unique stones used, each piece also has different markings from the metalwork process. Hammering and filing marks are equal parts development as well as the overall design esthetic. These imprints showcase the jewelry’s handcrafted authenticity and further impart a personal touch from the maker. Each design requires different tools and processes, often ranging from hand sawing, hammering, drilling, soldering, polishing, to the process of electroforming and any combination in between.
Electroforming is a mixture of alchemy, science and wonder. Electroforming is the process of slowing "growing" copper over the course of many hours or even days. Each piece is entirely unique and the copper takes on a more organic appearance not possible with traditional metalworking techniques alone.

Please note that you are responsible to package your item carefully and ship it with ample insurance to insure it arrives safely. Repairs typically require 2-6 weeks to complete.

JEWELRY CARE
The following are suggested best practices for the maintenance and care of your Ttereve jewelry:
* Keep jewelry out of humid places such as the bathroom and avoid leaving in extreme environments such as a hot car.
* Apply hairspray, perfume, lotions and other beauty products before putting on your jewelry. The chemicals can damage sensitive gemstones and tarnish metals, avoiding all contact is best.
* Remove jewelry when cleaning. Ammonia, detergents and other household chemicals will damage jewelry.
* Remove jewelry when washing your hands and showering for the same reasons as above.
* Do not swim at the beach or swimming pool while wearing your jewelry. Chlorine and salt will damage your gemstones and metals.
* Buff gently with a soft cloth before storing to help remove skin oils and contaminates.
* Often the best way to store jewelry is inside a sealed plastic bag such as a ziplock. This seals out moisture and dust and helps prevent tarnish.
