About

Wet and Needle felted merino wool bookmarks, art and home decor, inspired by Nature.

Hello!

My name is Lois and I was born and raised in a very, very small fishing village in Northern Newfoundland. I studied English Drama at University where I met my then long haired poet writing hippie husband. Little did I know, that 10 years and 3 kids later, he would join the army and we would live all over Canada.

I become a Horticulturist and I have had some fabulous jobs managing green houses and traveling. I have always looked for creative outlets, and have tried my hand at many different things.

I had a very busy life with a full time managerial job and a Army husband who is often away and 3 kids, And a major move every 3 years. I needed a hobby that I could pursue at home so I could be available for my children. Going to the local pottery studio was not working! But the great thing about felting is that you can do it anywhere. And it provides endless possibilities.

While living on an Army Base in Ontario, I took a felting course with a good friend and I was hooked! I started selling my bookmarks locally and was getting great feedback. I have always loved Etsy so I thought I would give online selling a shot. I am surprised by how much I am enjoying the social aspects of Etsy. So many great ideas and creativity!

I have been fortunate to live and visit some of the most beautiful places in the world. Newfoundland is stunning in its rugged beauty, the Ottawa Valley and Algonquin Park area of Ontario is gorgeous, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and then 3 years in Yellowknife,Northwest Territories, land of the midnight sun and northern lights! It's there that I began making wool paintings and small birds and bears inspired by the North.

We have recently moved back East to New Brunswick and I am getting lots of inspiration here! Here I started making my Felted Pillow covers, expanded my line of felted ptarmigans, owls and bookmarks and started selling to more galleries and boutiques all across Canada. I am now felting full time in my wonderful studio at home and I am loving it! Etsy was a big part of my decision to become a full time artist and maker. Thanks for visiting my shop!
