There's a story behind everything we make.

Each finished piece is made from old, often donated glass and china that has, to put it kindly, seen better days!

I grew up by the sea and always loved the fact that a wander on the beach meant keeping an eye out for a nice bit of something to keep as a reminder of the day. A move to the middle of the country put an end to all that until one day, at a loose end, I wondered if I could make my own version. Raw materials were available, as I worked in a reclamation shop, full of old sad broken things that had once been very beautiful. A friend had a toy rock tumbler and everything was a bit hit and miss at first, but 5 years of experimenting has led to a process which I have at least a little control over!

The pieces are further broken down, shaped and drilled before they are churned in sand and pebbles for a week to ten days in my homemade tumbler. All this happens in my favourite place, the shed.
