Todo empezó cuando aún estaba en la escuela (con mi maestría en Diseño), cuando la escuela estaba a punto de terminar y tenía que asegurarme de planificar bien mi futuro. Sabía que quería usar mis manos para crear objetos físicos y también sabía que quería usar materiales recuperados. Entonces, un día, se me ocurrió la idea que lo definiría todo: tenía que crear cosas para ciclistas, ya que yo también soy una ciclista apasionada. Así que decidí aprender a coser para hacer gorras de ciclismo con telas recuperadas. Fui a una tienda de segunda mano, compré un vestido rosa, volví a casa y pasé el resto del día cosiendo la primera gorra de ciclismo Turific, completamente a mano, viendo un tutorial en línea. Cuando la terminé, supe con certeza que este sería mi futuro negocio. Así que le pedí prestada una vieja máquina de coser a un amigo, luego una mejor a otro amigo, y empecé a aprender a coser viendo vídeos de YouTube. Me compré una máquina de coser Husqvarna de los años 60 y tres meses después lancé la marca Turific al mundo empresarial. Después de eso, no hubo vuelta atrás. Perfeccioné mi costura, compré otras máquinas y amplié mi gama de productos, desde gorras de ciclismo hasta bolsos, carteras, correas para pedales, carteras y otros. En el verano de 2014, contraté a una compañera (una joven arquitecta que, como yo, quería usar sus manos para crear objetos tangibles, en lugar de estar sentada 8 horas al día frente al ordenador) y le enseñé las técnicas de costura de Turific. Trabajó conmigo unos años, pero finalmente decidió cambiar de carrera. Ahora soy yo sola, a toda máquina, creando accesorios útiles, duraderos y adorables para ciclistas y urbanitas.

It all started when I was still in school (MA degree in Design) ~ school was nearly over and I had to make sure I plan my future right. I knew I wanted to use my hands to create physical objects and also knew that I wanted to use regained materials. Then one day the idea that narrowed it all down hit me: I had to create things for cyclists, being an avid cyclist myself. So I decided to learn how to sew in order to make cycling caps using regained fabrics. Went to the thrift store, bought a pink dress, came home and spend the rest of the day sewing the first ever Turific cycling cap, completely by hand, watching an online tutorial. When I finished it I knew for sure this is going to be my future business. So I borrowed an old sewing machine from a friend, then a better one from another friend, and started to learn how to sew watching youtube clips. Bought myself a 60's Husqvarna sewing machine and three months later I launched the Turific brand into the business world. After that it was no turning back, I got better at sewing, bought other sewing machines, expanded my product range from cycling caps to bags, pouches, pedal straps, wallets and others. In the summer of 2014 I hired a sidekick (a young architect who, as me, wanted to use her hands to create tangible objects, instead of sitting 8h/day in front of a computer), taught her the Turific ways of sewing. She worked with me for a few years but finally went for a new career switch. Now it's only me, on full throttle, making useful, durable and lovable accessories for cyclists and urban dwellers.
