Announcement   Welcome to Turtle Mtn. Artistry where you can find One of a Kind handmade woodcarvings by Cynthia Roth. I carve highly detailed wood carvings of song birds, traditional Santa Claus, old world Santa's, hand carved wood flowers, and create simple less detailed looking angels. I love woodcarving and creating highly detailed realistic looking songbirds. My goal is to make them look like they could fly away at any time. I also design, carve, and paint original Santa Clauses. My Santa wood sculptures normally include birds and animals because he is an animal and nature lover. Wood Sculpture is a great way to create collectible art and feel my only limitation is my imagination. My carvings are my own design or a modified design. All my products are made to warm your heart and your home. They would also make great gifts.
All my carvings are signed and dated and I started numbering my Santa's. Check back often because I am always adding new items to my shop.

About

Woodcarvings or Wood Sculptures it is all about the Art of Creativity

You have the world in your hands one day and the next day the world has you in its hands. Life changes that fast! I am a cancer survivor and now realize what life is all about. I retired from my job now living a less stressful life which includes love of nature and the beauty it beholds. Now I am working on one of my passions in life, creating or re-creating nature through wood carving. I love working with wood and making wood sculptures that depict life's wonders real or imaginary. I have been wood carving since 1985 when I discovered wood carving through the Flickertail Woodcarving Club. My main carvings are of songbirds, Santa Clauses, hand carved wood flowers, and Christmas ornaments all created with loving and caring hands. All the carvings in my shop "Turtle Mtn. Artistry" are handmade by me Cynthia Roth. I hope you love them as much as I do.

All my woodcarvings are very detailed which makes them look more realistic. Woodcarving is basically a 5 step process. The bird is cut out of a block of wood with a bandsaw. Then the bird is rounded off creating the final shape. The next step is bumping in all the feather details using grinding stones. Then I create all the fine detail work of the feathers. I use either a grinding stone or a wood-burner. When this is completed the bird is painted with acrylic paint. All my birds have glass eyes and the feet are handmade out of wire and epoxy. I love watching my birds come to life!

I have entered woodcarving competitions and have received numerous ribbons. My goal is to become a master woodcarver.

I am always looking for new challenges so if you want something special message me and I will see what I can come up with for a design.

I was born and raised in a small rural community in North Dakota. I have always had a love for nature and the beauty that it provides. I started carving after discovering the Flickertail Woodcarving Club in 1985 where I took classes and got hooked.
