Announcement   Welcome to Twig and Sprout Vintage, the store for slips, nightgowns, lingerie, and dresses from the 1920s, 1930s, 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s, plus other sundries. 'Things I Secretly Hope No One Buys' would be another good name for this shop, because I only sell things that I personally love. Don't feel bad though if you fall in love with something too. I'm very happy to share with someone like you who enjoys lovely things as much as I do.

If you haven’t experienced vintage intimates, now is the time to find out what the frenzy is all about, as they’re getting increasingly rarer. The detail and understated beauty is incomparable. Truly, they don’t make them like this anymore. Plus, they are extremely fun. If you're one of the many women who dream of 50s nightgowns and 60s slips you'll probably want to add me to your favorites and check back here often. I’m in the process of listing all kinds of them, and I've handpicked quite the inventory for my Etsy shop. At the moment, my house looks like Bette Davis's boudoir on a very hectic day.

I currently have a special on shipping: Supplementary Slips Ship Free. (Try saying that ten times fast.) Any additional nightgowns or slips ship free with the first one. There's no limit to how many gorgeous nightgowns and slips that can be delivered to you for free, but the offer only applies to US/Canadian/Mexican addresses. This discount will be reflected in your shipping cost when you check out.
Nightgowns can be found here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/TwigandSprout?section_id=7905523
More slips here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/TwigandSprout?section_id=7905520

You’ll find all kinds of other unpredictable delights here as well, depending on what is inspiring me at any given time. I love grouping coordinating but mismatched items. Currently, in the “Mischief in Housewares” section, I’m combining the classic Corelle patterns in fun mixed sets of dishes. I’m also layering vintage half slips so that all the different lace hems create a beautiful effect. The half slip sets often sell quickly when I list them, but you can find those under “Unruly Half Slips” if I have some available. Scandalous, yet delightful.

Happy perusing! I hope you find something that catches your eye and brightens your day.

Every vintage item, like every person, has a story. Many were important items in someone’s life. It feels great to reuse them and give them new homes instead of always generating new 'stuff.' The character and imperfections in vintage items are what make them more interesting (visually and in general) to own than just new. Plus, it’s fun to guess at the stories they could tell. However, like people, over time objects accumulate quirks. It’s like a newborn baby versus your favorite spunky middle-aged woman. So, if you’re more into the newborn baby aesthetic, vintage probably isn’t for you. In a way, every vintage item is one of a kind, because each of the items that were the same upon leaving the factory have taken a different journey since then. If you’re purchasing an item from me, you probably love vintage and all of the quirks that come with it.

And hey, it can sometimes be hard to find sellers again on Etsy. So, if you like what you see, add Twig and Sprout as a favorite and then you’ll know just where to find that perfect beautifully quirky object.

My tiny post office has limited hours, so I am not able to ship things every day, but I will ship as soon as possible. There are usually a few days between receiving your order and when the post office hours and my non-work hours align, so please understand that when placing your order.

I try as best as I can to price my shipping at the actual cost.

Shipping within the United States:
Unless otherwise noted, I ship United States Postal Service Priority Mail including Delivery Confirmation. Insurance is available at cost, please convo me if you would like to add that upgrade to your order. I do not automatically include it because I realize you may not want the added expense, but I do recommend it. I cannot control what happens to your package once I ship it, so I can’t be responsible for uninsured packages that get lost or damaged.

USPS insurance rates (effective April 17, 2011):
Item Value: Cost of Insurance:
0.01 to 50.00 1.80
50.01 to 100.00 2.30
100.01 to 200.00 2.85
200.01 to 300.00 4.75

International Shipping:
International items are usually shipped United States Postal Service First-Class Mail International. I can also ship Priority Mail International (6-10 business days), please convo me if you are interested in upgrading to that. For individual nightgowns and slips, Priority Mail International is $13 to Canada/Mexico, and $15 everywhere else. International Buyers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, or fees that the item incurs along its journey. International shipping can take between 1 week to 6 weeks (or possibly longer), depending on the destination and the customs process. I mail my international items with a Certificate of Mailing, but please note that tracking international packages can be difficult.
Refunds and Exchanges
I want you to love your item as much as I did when I found it. If you are dissatisfied with an item, please convo me as soon as possible so I can make it right for you. I will refund shipping/return shipping if I made a significant error in listing an item, but otherwise it is the buyer's responsibility.
