I like to cover my washed veggies with a clean dish towel and store them in the fridge- the slates in this colander give the produce fresh air- and they keep longer!
Inspiration alongside the finished piece! Maine Granite is so beautiful.

About

Painting Daily: creating a business from a dream

Growing up with a mother who is an artist has shaped me to be who I am today. Since I can remember, I have been encouraged to put ink to paper, always happy to find a means of expression in the fluidity and world of mark making.

When I was in High School, my parents bought me pottery lessons with a local potter, Lloyd Fitzsimmons, for Christmas. This has influenced much of the work I do today, embellishing my clay made functional objects with paintings that move around the pieces.

I find solace and peace working at my community studio- Lincoln Square Pottery Studio and Learning Center. My experience in painting informs my ceramics; I create scenes on clay. Thematically I draw from nature, childhood, and nostalgia. I love surrealism and the dream like states. I am inspired by such artists as Roy Lichtenstein (I love dots!), Dali (the master!), John Graham, and contemporaries Kumi Machida and Shio Kusaka.

Twinette Poterie is named after my grandmother, Antoinette, and pays homage to my French Canadian roots. My grandmother was straight talking, no bullshit and possessed a cutting sense of humor. She was also a maker, a seamstress, and I still remember her trunk of mismatched textiles, waiting to be synched together into a perfectly tailored piece. Her honesty and tenacity inspire me and are the keystones of my shop.

I'm on instagram @twintettepoterie where I share some snapshots of my work process and daily life. If you'd like to share a pic of you and one of my pieces, Id love to see it! and please make sure to hashtag #twinettepoterie! You may also find me on Facebook, under https://www.facebook.com/twinettepoterie/ :-)

Frequently asked questions
What to do if an item is delivered and it is damaged?

I take utmost care in wrapping packages to prevent breaking. There is however always the chance that an item can be broken during shipping. If this happens please contact me as soon as possible. All of my work ships UPS or USPS and is insured. I will require that you take a picture of the break in the package, to be submitted to the shipping company for refund. I will then offer you a replacement or refund.

Custom and personalized orders

On occasion I do take custom orders.
Please bear in mind that custom orders are accepted based on the request meshing with my style, and my ability to meet client expectations.
I ask clients to understand that while I approach my craft with 10 + years experience, spontaneity and the element of surprise is a constant in ceramics making, due in large part to the uncertain variable of kiln firings. Many of my best pieces are the result of unexpected happenings. While I will never sell a piece that I am unhappy with, a custom order may differ from other pieces in my body of work- and will be completely unique
I do NOT accept returns, refunds or COUPONS on custom orders.

Care instructions

Most work is dishwasher and microwave safe. Pieces which have real gold luster applied require extra care- hand washing and may not be used in the microwave. Please refer to individual posts for care recommendations.

Gift wrapping and packaging

My items are wrapped in natural tissue paper followed by lots of bubble wrap! I do not gift wrap- but am happy to include a personal message from you, if you would like.

Why does the shipping seem high?

Shipping delicate ceramics is something I have become pretty good at- I have very little breakage. This is because I take every precaution in getting my items to you, safe and sound.

This means that every item needs to be cozily wrapped in layers of recycled bubble wrap (I believe in caring for our planet in what ways we can), so packages are larger then when shipping less breakable items. Pottery also tends to be a bit heavier to ship.

I try to keep my shipping costs as reasonable as possible, but shipping ceramics simply incurs higher costs. Thanks for understanding.

Do you offer international shipping?

Absolutely- shipping varies a lot from country to country, especially with ceramics, which are a bit larger then most items. I am happy to provide an estimate, simply send me a convo letting me know which item you are interested in, and your address and I will provide an estimate, usually next day!

Info about shipping to remote areas in the US

I ship as safely and cheaply as possible. Shipping to remote areas and states like Alaska or Hawaii tend to exceed my shipping quotes.
If you live in one of these areas,I may contact you with an extra shipping charge.
