Announcement   Somewhere around age eleven, I turned my first piece of wood on my Grandfather’s lathe. By that time GrandDaddy was gone and his tools had been incorporated into my Father’s basement shop.

From an eleven year old perspective, the table and tools were magic. I loved all the whirling parts (no guards anywhere), and the smell of sawdust actually gave me chills. The smell meant that something was being made, that new possibilities were forming.

Thirty years later, its all still magic.

Twisted Grain Woodworks came out of a realization that I need to create to be happy. I found my own “perfect” in curved shapes and twisted wood grains. In the confluence of the utilitarian and the object of art, I found a swirling, twisting, beautiful place to design and shape. Please, share that place and those designs with me!

I still have that first piece I turned 30 years ago, and the smell of sawdust still makes me shiver with excitement. Thanks GrandDaddy. Thanks Dad.
