One day, the phone rang in Becca's pottery studio.

It was Nathan - a potter in Vermont and a total stranger at the time- calling to see if Becca would teach a clay workshop at his studio.

Two hours into the phone call, we were still happily talking . . . and three months later, we were engaged!

We decided we would set up shop on an old hill farm in central Vermont. But there was much work to be done to make it all happen.

We soon began collecting bricks for the wood-fired kiln we had both dreamed of, and spent our first five years together designing and building ourselves such a kiln, under a barn, and a timber frame workshop that today houses our studio + business, Two Potters.

We "commute" across our lawn to work, steaming mug of tea in hand, alternating hanging out with our two little kids and making pottery.

We make stoneware mugs, bowls, plates, mason jars, vases, spoon rests, fermenting crocks, and butter keepers. Our pieces are fired day + night for four full days, during which time we stoke our kiln with scrap slab wood to a temperature of 2300 degrees Fahrenheit. The ash from the burning wood makes a natural glaze on the pottery.

The kiln cools for a week before we can unload the 1000+ pieces that fill the two chambers. It takes us several months to fill the kiln, and month to complete a firing cycle - loading, firing, cooling, unloading, and readying the work for sale.

Additional pieces are fired in a small electric kiln, which is powered by solar-panels on the roof of our showroom, once the milk house for a dairy farm. The sun also powers our pottery wheels and other studio electricity needs.

Our pottery is available by visiting our Vermont studio, here on Etsy, at shows and markets in New England, as well as for custom wedding registries and dinnerware sets.

    Becca grew up in New England. She fell in love with clay on a borrowed pottery wheel in her garage when she was a teenager, and has been working in clay ever since.

    Nathan was born in TN, grew up in the midwest, and originally came to Vermont for a pottery job. He spent two years driving the back roads looking for a farm. The old dairy farm he bought is now the home of Two Potters.

We pride ourselves on customer service, and will do everything we can to remedy any issues you have with a purchase!

If you're unhappy with your purchase, please inform us as soon as possible. If the only resolution is a return, you will be responsible for the safe return of the package within 14 days, and its return shipping cost. A full refund (minus our shipping cost) will be granted after we have received the pottery intact!

Should your pottery arrive damaged or broken, we will try to find a suitable replacement as soon as possible. The replacement will be shipped at our cost, or we will ssue you a refund.

Please keep in mind . . . if you are not completely satisfied with some aspect of your experience here, please consider contacting us (via convo or email nathanandbecca [at] gmail.com) before leaving our family's business a negative review. We will work hard to improve your experience!

We accept all payment methods!

Vermont residents pay 6% sales tax, automatically added via PayPal.
Shipping
We know it stinks to pay for shipping. We don't like it either. But here's the thing: we are a really small business, and sending boxes costs us real dollars! There are no slim mailers or lightweight bags or volume discounts to be found here, just sturdy, clean boxes carefully packed with our time + attention.

In the vast majority of cases, the shipping cost just barely covers our costs. However, if the shipping you pay works out too high, we'll send you a coupon code for free shipping on your next order!

We ship via USPS, almost always Priority Mail. Your box will leave our studio 1-3 days from the time you place your order.

We do reserve the right to use USPS First class if Priority is cost-prohibitive for us, which means take a week or so to arrive. If you need expedited shipping, please contact us if you're willing to pay the extra cost.

GIFTS. If your purchase is a gift, please use the ship-to address at checkout. We will happily include a note; please leave your message, as well as who the gift is from, in the ‘notes to seller.’

INTERNATIONAL. We are happy to quote you for a shipment! Please let us know which item(s) you are interested in purchasing so we can estimate the size and weight of the box, and pass the cost info along to you. If you're OK with the shipping charges, and willing to pay whatever customs duties or fees are imposed on the box at the time of delivery, we will set up a listing for you!
