Two Trees a world of happiness
Mi trabajo es en su mayoría caprichoso y divertido y ha encontrado su camino a colecciones privadas en todo el mundo, desde el lejano Oriente hasta el salvaje oeste. De esto estoy muy orgulloso.
Crecí entre los huertos y los campos en Zelanda, Países Bajos. Esto desencadenó mi fascinación por los animales, la naturaleza y el fuego. Siempre me encantó el momento en que mi papá quemaba las ramas podadas; acercándose lo más posible. Ahora sigo jugando con el fuego para dar forma a la porcelana, el vidrio y la plata.
Dejé los Países Bajos para estudiar diseño industrial en Amberes, Bélgica. Después de mi graduación me mudé a Irlanda, donde viví y trabajé durante 3 años. Regresé a Amberes y tuve una cocina-sala de exposición a medida, hice todo, instalando bar y pintando las cocinas, yo mismo. Un gran trabajo, convirtiendo las casas de las personas en hogares, siendo la cocina el corazón de la mayoría de los hogares. Desafortunadamente tuve que dejarlo ir. Me gustaba trabajar por cuenta propia y también me gusta crear con y para las personas; para hacerles a ellos y a sus hogares un lugar más feliz.
Había pasado mi tiempo por las noches creando e yendo a cursos de talla de madera, cerámica, fabricación de cuentas de vidrio y forja de plata y oro. Siempre había recibido muchas respuestas positivas a mi trabajo y sentí que era el momento adecuado para tratar de establecer una tienda y vender estas creaciones. Difundiendo así la felicidad, que es central para mi trabajo, en el mundo. Así que abrí mi tienda en etsy en junio de 2010.
My work is mostly whimsical and funny and has found its way to private collections across the globe, from the far East to the wild West. Of this I'm really proud.
I grew up among the orchards and the fields in Zeeland, the Netherlands. This triggered my fascination for animals, nature and fire. I always loved the time when my dad would burn the pruned branches; getting as close as possible. Now I still play with fire to shape porcelain, glass and silver.
I left the Netherlands to study industrial design in Antwerp, Belgium. After my graduation I moved further to Ireland where I lived and worked for 3 years. I returned to Antwerp and owned a bespoke kitchen-showroom, I did everything, bar installing and painting the kitchens, myself. A great job, turning people’s houses into homes, the kitchen being the heart of most homes. Unfortunately I had to let it go. I liked being self-employed and I also like to create with and for people; to make them and their homes a happier place.
I had spent my time in the evenings creating and going to courses in wood carving, ceramics, glass bead making and forge silver and gold. I had always received many positive replies to my work and felt the time was right to try and set up shop and sell these creations. Thus spreading the happiness, which is central to my work, into the world. And so I opened my shop on etsy in June 2010.
