A little about Tying the Knots and the artist behind the designs

Tying the Knots specializes in custom watercolor wedding stationery that tells the story of our clients. We work collaboratively with the engaged to create custom invitations
worthy of the wonderful life changing occasion. We are a full-service design and print studio that works with clients all over the world- from intimate ceremonies to elaborate events.

Meagan Harrington Diaz is the artist behind Tying the Knots Studio. She lives in Tucson, Arizona, with her husband, three daughters, two dogs, three fish and many native animals that visit their land which include owls, bobcats and snakes (oh, my!).

Tying the Knots' custom work has been featured in Martha's Vineyard Island Weddings Magazine, Rock N Roll Bride, Reign Magazine, Hardy Farm Weddings and Atlanta Weddings.

At Tying The Knots, we are dedicated to bringing you high quality, one-of-a-kind artwork. Each item is carefully handcrafted right here in our studio. We oversee each and every card that leaves our doors in anticipation that your stationery will be treasured for a lifetime. Our studio is fully equipped to design and print wedding suites of all sizes from intimate ceremonies to elaborate events.

TRULY UNIQUE
We use your story and vision as a couple as inspiration for the paintings that develop into your custom wedding suite with all original watercolor artwork designed exclusively for your wedding.

At a Glance

CUSTOM DESIGN

1.Design Fee
Single custom watercolor designs start at $125 (Maps and Itineraries $175). Multiple custom watercolor design packages start at $325. Adding a page with only text and/or one of your existing original designs (no new illustration) $62.50, each page.

2.Printing Fee
Printing is an additional fee to be added after designs are finalized.

3.Deposit
A 50% non-refundable deposit is due once the custom request and contract have been submitted and the details of our design are worked out. Design work cannot begin until the non-refundable deposit has been submitted.

TIMELINES
• Standard Design Timeline 7-10 business days per item we design for you (custom maps and illustrated timelines 10-12 business days) plus 8-10 business days to print depending on the complexity of our project, time of year and printing method you have chosen. Each revision, light illustration revision or text revision will add 5 business days, each revision.

• Expedited Design Timeline 3-5 business days per item we design for you (custom maps and illustrated timelines 5-6 business days) plus 3-5 business days to print depending on the complexity of our project, time of year and printing method you have chosen. Each revision, light illustration revision or text revision will add 3 business days, each revision.

• Next Day Turnaround Design Timeline 1 business days per item we design for you (custom maps and illustrated timelines 2 business days) plus 1-3 business days to print depending on the complexity of our project, time of year and printing method you have chosen. Each revision, light illustration revision or text revision will add 1 business day, each revision.

• Design timeline and cannot begin until contract has been signed and submitted and the 50% deposit is submitted. I also understand this deposit is non-refundable.

PROOFING
Each custom design (each page) includes 3 proofs with 2 complimentary rounds of revisions. If necessary, we are happy to provide additional proofs starting at $35 each page for 5x7, $45 each page for 8x10 and $60 each page for 11x14 and up, depending upon your timeline.

Each revision, light illustration revision or text revision will add 5 business days unless an expedited or rush timeline has been previously determined which will add 1-3 business days, each piece.

When a pencil proof has commenced, and client subsequently changes their mind in the overall aesthetic and/or the changes requested will severely alter the pencil proof, a new proof will need to be created, on a new sheet of watercolor paper, which will result in a new design fee starting at $125 depending upon the timeline. A subsequent change in design direction of a Larger Original painting will result in a new design fee starting at $425, based on the timeline.

Once final proofs are approved, the revision process closes. If changes are requested post final approval on text such as font choices or layout of the text or content of the text, each subsequent change to proof incurs a $50 fee. We cannot alter the watercolors once added. Tying the Knots Custom Watercolor Wedding Stationery is not responsible for any misspellings, typos of our final, approved proofs, or any inconsistencies within a provided address list.

PRINTING/ENVELOPES
Printing is an additional fee to be determined after design work is completed, final proofs are approved and printing agreement and payment have been submitted. Orders under 50 (not collectively but each invitation count under 50, each rsvp count under 50, etc.) are subject to a $125 fee, each printing listing.
Because of the many wonderful steps involved in creating your custom stationery without the use of automated machines, there may be variations in color, and size of the final, printed product. Some cards are custom cut, some papers are mould-made, and embellishments hand-finished, all of which contribute to the one of a kind exclusivity of your final product.
We are happy to send your envelopes out before the printing of our project upon request for an additional $125. Please note:
1) We ship to the address provided at checkout
2) Because we work on multiple projects at one time, clients are responsible for keeping track of the color, size, and type of envelope mailed prior to printing schedules.
3) Save the Dates, Invitations, RSVP cards and Thank You Cards include envelopes. Outer Envelopes, Specialty Envelopes, or Supplemental Envelopes are an additional charge.
4) If we are lining the envelopes, please keep in mind most calligraphers prefer to address an unlined envelope, please refer to your calligrapher for further information before we mail the envelopes.
Although we strive to offer the highest quality products, please note we do not manufacture the envelopes and claim no responsibility for the efficacy of the closure of any envelopes supplied with our custom stationery, as well as the aesthetic satisfaction of the envelopes. Our clients are welcome to supply their own envelopes, but there is no cash value if our clients choose to omit or replace the envelopes that are provided with our custom stationery for any reason.

TIMELINES
Total timelines will vary and cannot begin until your contracts are submitted. In general, we like to have 7-10 business days per item we design for you (custom maps and illustrated timelines 10-12 business days) plus 8-10 business days to print depending on the complexity of our project, time of year and printing method you have chosen.

Each revision, light illustration revision or text revision will add 5 business days unless an expedited timeline has been previously determined which will add 3 business days, each revision.

To avoid any added stress we try not offer final proofs within 2 weeks or less from your wedding date unless previously determined with rush fees. If delayed correspondence results in delayed design pencil proof feedback, delayed final proof feedback or delayed printing feedback, applicable delayed correspondence rush fees and possible expedited shipping fees will be applied.

Please understand that we cannot check in on clients that have delayed communication. We work with sensitive timelines each and every day and need to keep our deadlines with scheduled projects including communication, design, printing and shipping logistics. If we don’t hear back from clients in a timely manner, we cannot assume responsibility on checking in on these projects that will be delayed as a result.

Because we work on multiple time-sensitive events concurrently, envelope and paper selections that are featured in our paper and envelope selection sections can go quickly and might not be available without advance notice. Even with advance notice, very rarely we will receive a package from one of our suppliers that has been damaged. We will find the most expedient resolution to the delay but may not be held accountable for delays that are as a result of shipping of erroneous items, damaged items or delayed items. Although we do our very best to plan in advance, some situations are out of our control such as delays caused by weather, FedEx, USPS, UPS website malware and damaged supplies in shipment to us.

SEMI-CUSTOM DESIGN
• After purchase, we will send a form to fill out based on your order (24-48 hours after purchase, M-TH).

• After we gather your information we will create a series of proofs within 2-3 business days (M-TH), submitted electronically. 3 Proofs are included, with 2 complimentary revisions. Each additional revision +$35

CUSTOM AND SEMI-CUSTOM DESIGN
• Although we do our best to scan each card throughout the creative process for any errors, Tying the Knots does not employ editors to proofread text or double check dates that were given to us from our clients. There is no spellcheck in the photo editing program we use to create your invitations. Please note that you are responsible for all text and dates accuracies and we are not responsible for typos after you have submitted the printing agreement.

• Tying the Knots studio hours: Monday – Thursday and that the out of studio dates are found in the signature section of each email from Tying the Knots and is updated periodically without subsequent messages to notify me of such dates.

• Printing timeline cannot begin until the printing agreement has been signed and submitted and once the printing agreement has been signed and submitted I understand the printing payment is non-refundable.

PAPER/ENVELOPE SAMPLES
To get the most accurate color, texture and resolution details on our paper and envelope selections, we offer a sample of our papers. Please inquire for details. For pocketfold and gatefold samples, please refer to http://www.tyingtheknots.com Design Gallery for in-depth details and photographs.

DIGITAL FILES
We believe in quality. We use the finest paper products, paints, and inks to create your custom wedding stationery. We love to oversee the printing and quality of our cards and definitely prefer to handle this final step in our studio, but if you find you would prefer a high resolution file, each file is available at $200 with the exception of the Entire Wedding Design Package. Please refer to Entire Wedding Package for details.

COMMUNICATION
Communication is key in developing your custom wedding suites. We love working intimately with couples and their families and understand that with some projects, many voices would like to heard. Understandably, this can create some confusion and congestion in the overall flow of a project with multiple emails and/or calls from multiple people with the possibility of conflicting ideas. We ask that our main line of communication be with the same person for the duration of our project in order to keep a fluid project pace.

Email is our preferred line of communication so we don’t miss a single detail. We also need to refer, often, to our written correspondence and files supplied by our clients, wedding planners or ourselves throughout the duration of our project.

PROJECT DIRECTION
We are happy to advise on various technical topics of wedding stationery upon request.

Upon request we offer:
1) Font files with many different fonts to choose from
2) Paper samples with envelopes and gatefold samples for purchase to determine exact color representation, texture, resolution and thickness
3) A wonderful array of wording examples, sizes and layouts can be found in our collection of work at tyingtheknots.com

Please note we cannot assume to know which size/color/layout is right for your project as each and every client has a different and wonderfully unique vision from the other. We are more than happy to open that line of communication at your request. For in-depth, personalized direction with valuable insight into specific details that align with your wedding aesthetic, many clients consult wedding planners who can advise their clients in person and in greater detail than we can with our limited digital correspondence.

SHIPPING
Our recommended shipping carrier is FedEx. We cannot assume responsibility once your package leaves our hands. FedEx is the most reliable carrier we work with.

With normal timelines (2+ weeks before the wedding date), we ship using your preference of carrier and shipping window.
Any packages that are shipped 14 days or less of the wedding date, must ship FedEx.
Any packages that are shipped 4 business days or less of the wedding date must be shipped using FedEx, overnight delivery service.

Please note, we cannot assume which mailing address is ideal for our clients. We ship to the address provided by our clients at checkout. Please double check this address before checkout and please note that shipping can occur on a Saturday if the shipping window falls on a Saturday. If a work address is given as the shipping address, please keep this in mind for Saturday delivery.

COPYRIGHT
Tying the Knots retains copyright to its illustrations, and all original artwork created for you as a result of this agreement. To the extent any such work may be deemed to be on commission by you and a work for hire, you hereby agree that Tying the Knots, and not you, shall be the owner of the copyright. You agree that for any reproductions of such works, digital or physical, you shall pay Tying the Knots $250 for each design, as well as the same print price as outlined in our print pricing plus 50% for each copy made and that failure to report and pay such charges shall be deemed a breach of this contract. You also agree that should Tying the Knots prevail in an action for breach of contract of this provision, you will be liable to Tying the Knots for its attorney’s fees and costs in prosecuting such a case, in addition to damages from the breach. Tying the Knots copyright to its illustrations and may retain original artwork for any reason including but not limited to printing of a lesser amount than outlined in our contract and/or estimate.

REFUNDS
We understand your time is valuable- especially when planning a wedding. The time we devote to our clients is valuable, too. In starting each and every project, much time is devoted to answering emails and/or phone consultations, reviewing and analyzing file attachments, calculating timelines and general thoughtfulness of the concept of designs and initial questions via email or phone consultations. This is why we require a non-refundable 50% of the total project fee to begin the design. Once the designs have been finalized and the printing agreement has been submitted, there are no refunds on the remaining balance paid.

Due to the customized nature of our finished, printed projects, your printed custom stationery cannot be refunded or exchanged.

IDLE PROJECTS
We dedicate many hours to our clients' custom projects through communication via email and/or phone consultations and designate specific dates exclusively for each project when creating our schedules. Purchased design work that has commenced via email correspondence, and/or pencil/watercolor proofing, is valid for up to 6 weeks. If we do not hear from you during this 6 week window, projects will be considered idle or abandoned and will be considered completed and marked "shipped" through the original listing.

STUDIO HOURS
Tying the Knots hours are Monday through Thursday, 8AM-4PM MST.
Email is our preferred line of communication so we don’t miss a single detail and we need to refer, often, to our written correspondence.
We are a company of two-three (depending on our wonderful assistants' schedules), so occasionally we are out of the studio on the same dates. We notify all of our existing clients in advance of our absences and plan our projects accordingly to stay on track with our deadlines. Once our project is underway, correspondence will be conducted through our email at info [!at] tyingtheknots.com in which a running calendar of our Out of Studio Dates is listed with each email.

PRIVACY POLICY
Please let Tying the Knots know immediately if we should change your names and or dates to protect your privacy in the case that we share any designs as examples of custom work in our studio and or social media. In some cases, we may substitute or alter designs, fonts, text or placement of text on our designs for photographing purposes.

WHAT IS THE TIMELINE AND PROCESS LIKE?

For semi-custom stationery, after receiving your deposit, contract and finalized information, we ask for 5 business days to create your proofs and 2-3 business days for any revisions. Printing can take anywhere from 1-14 business days dependent upon your timeline and project.

For custom stationery, after receiving your deposit, contract and finalized information, we ask for 8-10 business days to create each custom design (so a 3 Piece Invite Set would take 4-6 weeks to design). Printing can take anywhere from 1-14 business days dependent upon your timeline and project.

DO YOU HAVE RUSH OPTIONS?

Yes, we try to accommodate all timelines with expedited design and next day printing when available. Please inquire.

DO YOU OFFER DIGITAL FILES?

One of the greatest joys in working with our clients is being a part of the project from the conception of the first design to the final step involved- printing using our watercolor printers. We understand this doesn’t work for all timelines or budgets. Please keep in mind, our project minimums as outlined below. Each high-resolution file is $200 which does not include the design fee.

IS THERE A MINIMUM ORDER?

Our current total project minimum for Semi-Custom is $300.

Our current total project minimum for Completely Custom is $725 which can be the cost to design + the cost to print or any other combination.
