About

Art That Is Both Beautiful and Functional

I'm Lizzy Herpel, the artist behind Ukulele Lizzy!

I love designing and painting and have been a creator for as long as I can remember. But, I have always felt that once completed, typical canvas paintings have no real function other than aesthetic pleasure. They might be beautiful, but they don't really do anything else, right?

That's why I started Ukulele Lizzy! I wanted to create a line of functional art; something that adds color and design to your decor, but can also be taken down and used to create beautiful music.

Each ukulele in my shop displays an intricate mandala design that is painted by hand using long lasting acrylic paint in an array of beautiful colors.

My creations are primarily made with Kala Music Brand Co. ukuleles or other ukuleles of similar quality. Kala ukuleles are considered to be some of the best affordable ukuleles on the market. All my ukuleles are strung with Aquila Super Nylgut strings, a high-quality household name in the world of ukuleles. When each painting is completed, it is sealed with a longlasting satin varnish. Therefore, you never need to worry if any build or sound quality is sacrificed in my creations.

These ukuleles are an eye-catching conversation piece that can be played and admired for years to come.

Frequently asked questions
How should I care for my ukulele?

All ukuleles in my shop are painted with high-quality, long-lasting acrylic colors. They are then sealed with a professional satin varnish. They should withstand regular wear and tear from playing.

To keep your ukulele beautiful looking and sounding, care for it as you would any other ukulele. Store it in a safe place such as up on the wall or in a padded case.

Why won't my ukulele stay in tune?

All ukuleles in my shop are strung with new, high quality Aquila strings. When a ukulele receives new strings, it can take time for the strings to stretch out. The more you play it, the best it will stay in tune.

You can sometimes speed up the stretching process by manually pulling in the strings to stretch them. Be careful not to pull too hard as you could break the string or damage the instrument.
