Announcement   Featuring unique art to wear Rentals or custom commissions for special occasions and photoshoots.
My most recent work concentrates on an eco-couture concept. My line of eco-sustainable, wearable art integrates vintage fabrics, wool fleece and natural fabrics such as silk and cotton into unique, one-of-a-kind garments. Adventurous pieces are distinctively colored with wash-fast dye, natural dyes and plants, machine rust and teas. Many pieces have raw unhemmed edges mixed with vintage findings and buttons and receive a low water immersion dyeing process. Garments are hand washable and the merino wool is super fine and soft, comfortable for next to the skin wear.. In keeping with the eco- design spirit, there is no machine stitching in my clothing line.
My parachute skirts are created from vintage US Military parachutes and are hand dyed by me.

About

Creative OOAK Art to Wear Using Upcycled Materials and Eco Friendly Construction Methods

Alice Andrews began her career in textile arts as a draper for films and commercials, later transitioning to fashion designs using her hand painted fabrics and wool felt.

Alice is part of an eco-sustainable movement called "slow fashion" where her designs are all natural and hand-crafted. She uses only time honored traditional methods that are environmentally and socially responsible. In keeping true to the eco-design all natural spirit, many of her designs have no machine stitching.

Alice's wearable art integrates components such as raw wool fleece and natural upcycled fabrics such as silk and cotton. Her adventurous pieces are distinctively colored with various types of dyes and dyeing techniques. She uses wash-fast dyes, and other dyes from natural sources like plants, machine rust, and teas. For garment accessories, she uses vintage findings and buttons when appropriate.

Her work has been published in the book "500 Felt Objects" by Lark Books, Sterling Publishing, (September 2011). Her felt and hand painted fabrics have been featured in several movies as well as the award winning Showtime series "Homeland".

Her creative spirit continuously challengers her to create unique garments that are as fashionable as they are artistic.

She resides in Charlotte, NC
