About WenRedmondArt
What does one do, who sees visions? Experiment. Break rules. Expose people to new ways of seeing. Art, to me, is about moving forward.

“I create, and the piece responds. A dialogue is started until the piece is finished. each work becomes an obsession. time is condensed, becomes almost irrelevant. I don't keep hours, i 'work' all the time. to say how long any one piece takes is very difficult. the simple mechanics of a piece can take several months but the conception, the idea, is very hard to capture. it is the germ, the heart of the process. it’s why I do it. “
New England artist, Wen Redmond explores her medium, fiber, focusing on experimentation and expanding its presentation. When the digital processes and computer become readily available, she was able to join her fiber work with her love of photography. This created a unique personal artistic expression merging digital processes, fabric painting, photography, collage, media mix and surface design. After the image is composed, it is printed directly onto inkjet ready substrates or specially treated fabrics and then presentation is decided. Wen calls her work Digital Fiber.
Wen has created several signature Digital Fiber techniques; 3-D effects with her original Holographic Images, mixed media Textured Photographs via molding paste, a Serendipity Collage technique, Segmented Quilts, and Painted Edge Finishes.
Wen continues to investigate the digital world but also imaginative presentations that add to the pioneering exploration of her media and give her work edge. Her latest work continues experimenting with digital photography and manipulation and printing images on mixed medium substrates. Each work is unique and created individually. She delights in creating dialogue, changing perspectives and perceptions of fiber.
She has been published widely in books and magazines, featured on Quilting Arts Television and has two DVD workshops with Interweave Publishing. Wen's book ‘Digital Fiber Art: Combine Photos & Fabric - Create Your Own Mixed-Media Masterpiece’ has been recently published. Her work has been included in many juried exhibits, private and public collections including Marbaum Collection at the San Joe Museum of Quilts and Textiles.

“Making art is like a meditation. I put that energy into my creations. Later, viewing a piece, revisit that feeling; like reading a poem or familiar story. It brings you back.”
