Thank you Catherine for the wonderful cleansing serum and complimentary samples, I received them halfway round the world in such good time! Everything was well packaged. Will be back for the Surya cream, for sure, once another batch is made :)

UHW is a true cottage business and evolved when I became a licensed massage therapist in 2007. I started custom blending essential oils in jojoba for my clients and when my first child was born, I began creating balms and butters as a gentle, healthy alternative to the petro-chemical, synthetically fragranced ointments on the market. We never test on animals! Essential oils are all potentially toxic to cats and dogs and there are plenty of family and friends more than willing to be our latest tester!

All of our products are made in small batches and are original, well researched concoctions, created through trial and error, some for necessity and some for fun!

UHW strives to be ever evolving and adapting - I invite you to share your ideas, comments and theories on improvement or life in general. Please convo me any special requests, I like a challenge!

We support the US Postal Service! Happily shipping internationally and anywhere in the 50 states. My policy for all shipping is a PayPal refund after shipping of overages $2.50 and greater. UHW uses recycled packing materials whenever possible, i.e. boxes, newspaper. Please request a new box if this is important to you. All products are always in brand new jars/bottles and shrink-wrapped.

Additional policies and FAQs
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS REGARDING ESSENTIAL OILS I USE. TAKE CAUTION OR AVOID:

Pregnancy: Aniseed, Basil, all Cedarwoods, Clary sage, Clove, Juniper, Myrrh, Peppermint, Rosemary, Rose, Jasmine.

Avoid direct sunlight for 2+ hours after using on your skin: Bergamot, Grapefruit, Lemon, Lime, Mandarin and Sweet Orange.

Epilepsy: Rosemary, Sage.

Hypertension: Rosemary.

Hypotension: Ylang Ylang.

This is not an exhaustive list.

Q: Why do we use glass for most of our products?
A: Real, unadultered essential oils have the potential to erode (chemically eat through) plastics over time. Also, colored glass protects the contents of the jar from the sun, increasing the shelf life of the product. All products have a shelf life of one year to guarantee the best quality and some must be stored in a cool, dark place (Happy Hair Oil for instance). When plastics are used, I use PETE and other safe composites. We also use some steel containers, coated with tin. I have not had any compatability issues with essential oil erosion. PLEASE contact me if you notice otherwise!

Q: Why do I harp on and on about unrefined butters?
Using unrefined butter is important because butters are refined with solvents that end up stripping away the naturally occurring, healing chemicals in an effort to provide uniformity of color and texture (what a crummy trade-off)!

Q: What is the difference between organic and wildcrafted?
A: Organic ingredients are certified as such by our governmental body. At times, the herbs, resins, flowers used for essential oil distillation are gathered in the wild and are uncertifiable. These wild products are often the best, so don't get tripped up on the "organic" label - use your own noggin!
