The dress is gorgeous, fairly priced, it was packaged nicely, described and photographed accurately and the seller is incredibly responsive and helpful. Can’t recommend enough!

I am obsessed with vintage.

Well, I have now admitted it to the world.

But really, it is in my blood. Growing up, I was taught to cherish the items of the past for their beauty and history. (This lesson was most colorfully illustrated during the earthquakes of my Northern California youth; my mother would run throughout the house putting our antique Chinese urns on pillows, and only once they were secured would she check on us - but I digress.) Add to this my father, a civil engineer by trade, who has long bemoaned all the "damned plastic" that most modern goods are made of, and I really had no choice but to come to see older products as superior in many ways to those of our modern world.

Nowadays, if you get my mother, my sister and me in a room together, we won't last five minutes before we grab the keys and head out to a thrift store in search of some amazing find. The problem is that I live in a tiny house with four others - my husband and three kids. It is full to the brim with all my treasures, but I simply cannot stop the hunt. I live for that thrill of finding some long discarded item that was once such an important part of a household decades ago.

And with that, we come to the magical part. To me, finding one of these vintage treasures is not about completing a collection or getting something that is worth a lot of money, or acquiring something that was designed to sit on a shelf gathering dust. Instead, it is a form of time travel. When I'm holding a coffee pot from the 1950s, for example, I close my eyes and think about the hands that touched it, that poured coffee out of it every morning before settling in to read the paper. Hands that were probably not so different from those of my grandmother or other loved ones that I have lost. And that connection to the people who came before us? That is the magic, and I hope you feel it too.

I only stock those items that charm me, delight me, or otherwise make me smile when I look at them. I hope you feel the same way!

Returns and exchanges
I gladly accept returns and exchanges

The following items can't be returned or exchanged
Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:
  • Custom or personalized orders
  • Perishable products (like food or flowers)
  • Digital downloads
  • Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)
  • Items on sale
I will be happy to refund items according to the following:

1) You may return the item to me within 15 days of purchase date, shipped at your cost, for a full refund less the shipping cost to you. After 15 days of purchase, I will review returns on a case by case basis. Please note: I will not accept returns after 15 days of purchase because you are unhappy with the color of an item. Color is subjective and cannot be guaranteed online due to differences in screen resolution, settings and other factors.

2) Damaged items: with proof of damage, I will refund 100%, including cost of shipping, within 15 days of purchase (not shipment or delivery). Fragile items such as glassware will be double boxed to insure they will get to you unscathed.

3) Lost items: Full refund, including shipping cost to you, for items that have not been delivered within 60 days of shipment date.

Upswing Vintage loves PayPal, and credit cards are perfectly acceptable as well.

If you need to cancel an order, please let me know as soon as possible. If the item has already shipped, it is too late to cancel the order; however, I will accept returns according to the refund policy noted below.
Shipping
I make every effort to ship within one business day. Depending on the item, I will ship either parcel post, first class or priority mail. If you have a preference for one of these shipping methods, please contact me prior to payment and I will adjust the shipping rate accordingly.

I am fanatical about packaging. I go out of my way to wrap fragile items with utmost care to insure they arrive at their new home safely and undamaged. Fragile items are double boxed whenever possible, and much bubble wrap is used.

Tracking numbers will be provided with every order.

INTERNATIONAL: I'm sorry, but I've had to suspend shipping to most non-US locations. I currently ship to North America, Australia and New Zealand only.

Condition of items: I sell vintage items, many of which have been around the block and therefore may not be perfect. I inspect every item thoroughly and carefully note all flaws that I find.

Condition Chart:
Mint - As new. No visible flaws or wear. All parts/pieces intact.

Excellent - Has been used and may have very minor noticeable flaws that do not detract from the use or aesthetics of the item. All parts/pieces intact.

Very Good - Light wear and/or noticeable flaws that may warrant optional repairs, but can still be used as intended. May be missing parts/pieces, but doesn't impact use.

Good - Visible wear with minor flaws that may warrant repairs before being used as intended. May be missing parts/pieces, but doesn't impact use.

Fair - Numerous flaws and/or especially fragile. Likely needs to be repaired before being used as intended. May be missing parts/pieces that impact use.

Poor - Extensive damage. Cannot be used as intended without repair. To be used for parts, repair, display or as photo props only. Missing parts/pieces that impact use.

The vast majority of my items are rated Good or above; I will only list "Fair" or "Poor" items if they are particularly special or unique.

If you feel that the condition of the item purchased was not as described, you may return the item to me within 30 days and I will issue you a full refund less the shipping cost to you.

When will my order ship?

I make every effort to ship within one business day. I typically go to the post office every week day at 3:30 pm; as long as I get your order prior to 1 pm PST, it will usually ship that same day.

How long will it take for my order to arrive?

For US orders, I will ship either USPS parcel post (2-8 days), first class for packages weighing up to 13 oz (1-3 days) or priority mail (1-3 days). I will also ship via USPS Express Mail upon request (overnight guarantee). If you have a preference for one of these shipping methods, please contact me prior to payment and I will adjust the shipping rate accordingly.

Shipments to Canada, Australia and New Zealand usually take 6-10 business days, but sometimes longer. Please contact me with your specific country information for more details.

Do you combine shipping if I purchase multiple items?

Yes, absolutely! If you purchase multiple items from my shop, there is an excellent chance I will be able to combine everything into one package and give you a refund on any shipping overage.

However, if you order multiple fragile items, sometimes there is no shipping discount because of the amount of packaging necessary to keep your items safe during transit. Please contact me if you have specific concerns.

I'm ordering something fragile. Will it arrive safely?

For large items such as sewing machines and typewriters, I follow shipping best practices to the letter to ensure that it arrives safely on your doorstep.

I am a vintage sewing machine collector who has purchased machines online only to have them arrive in pieces when they get to me. I will do everything I can to prevent that heartbreak from happening to my customers.
