Foraging, Upcycling and DIY-ing her tail off since 1973

I've always been a forager, a recycler, a maker. When I was a little girl I would dig through the recycle, my dad's garage, my neighbor's yard sale, my mother's fabric bin and any other place I could to find resources to use with my small child's small budget and huge imagination. I was undeterred and never veered from my path of maker-ism. As a young adult I could be found in my city shaking trees on vacant lots to can apple sauce, pie filling, plum jam and stripping branches to freeze berries when I wasn't culling materials for natural, handmade soaps and bath bags.

Today I garden. I'm a hiker. I'm a mama, wife and teacher. I love nature and as I'm on my walks, hikes and runs I can't help but collect a beautiful piece of moss or perfect snail shell because I know there will be a moment when it is just the perfect thing to add to a fairy house, potion jar or diorama.

I'm a maker who is inspired by the resources provided by world around me, these are the things I make from them. When I'm making and creating I'm filled with joy; I feel so happy during their conception and I would love to share that happiness with you.

I've always looked to the world around me for materials to create. When I was a child, I was digging through the recycle bin, as a teen I gathered abandondoned apples and now I forage my urban environment daily, for inspiration and materials.
