Why did you start your shop?
I started Urbane Beads because I was inspired by the urban atmosphere of Chicago. Having a creative background I went to school for Architecture. In moving to Chicago, I am working on starting my careers an architect, but need a creative outlet. I have been making jewelry since my nimble fingers could work a needle and pliers. More recently I became inspired to sell my jewelry by attending many of the craft fairs and art shows held around the city. Hence, why I started Urbane Beads!

My Design inspiration:
Living in Chicago has inspired me to become a part of the urban life style. My jewelry line became inspired my materials found and the rustic city chic I see everyday walking the streets of Chicago. My Urban Transit series of jewelry is made from recycled CTA Transit passes. In moving to Chicago, I love the ability to travel around the city on the “L”. I began collecting dropped and lost CTA transit passes and was inspired to reuse these cards within my jewelry making.
