This is absolutely beautiful. I just love it. I have had several comments on it since I got it - it's on my dining room table where it gets good light which makes it look even cooler. Love your work Vivi!

About

What if………….?

I started as a fiber artist and it is still a passion for me. At forty years old I returned to college and discovered clay, accidentally, and let me tell you I hated it! It blew up, cracked, fell apart and subsequently intrigued me, grabbed me and hasn't let go yet. For some people there is comfort in "knowing it all" and knowing what to expect, not I! That is exactly what I love about clay. It is impossible to know it all, do it all, learn it all and that is what keeps me coming back for more, the huge and I do mean huge learning curve. Everyday is new, wonderful, disappointing, fragmented, exhilarating and intriguing. How many people can say that about their job?

The simplest nuance of a work can influence a whole new line of work. I love nature. Trees, rocks, seeds, humans, have you ever looked closely at someone's hand, a seed, a mud wasp's nest? Art for me has to be what I'm passionate about. If passion exists in the making, it shines through the work.

I am, most assuredly, a "what if" artist. "What would happen if I did this?" "How would it look if I did that?" I experiment often and consequently ruin what otherwise might have been "good" "dammit you could have sold that" work, that's alright, the learning is the important part. Most of my experiments are surface design related which always gets the old brain ticking.

I believe in "don't give up" and I believe in "just do the work" and I believe art should be available to all. It enriches life! I hope my work does that in some measure. I don't believe in any other goal.
