About

Evolution of a Vagabond

I operate a very small business model. I love to create so much, but can only use a small portion of what I make. I have also found that it makes me giddy as a school girl when someone reaches out and asks me to place a piece of my creativity in thier life. Its an amazing rush.
So, this shop is born - an opportunity for me to create outside my self and stretch my fiber art to wherever it will go.
I pull together ideas and fabrics, then I think about things I have seen that I want to bring home, or share with others. Then I ponder; how do I translate that into fabric. Out comes - fabric covered bird houses, stuffed birdies of all sizes, recycled paper ornaments, fabric coffee cup cozies, and beyond.
I sew, I cut, I sew some more, I cut some more, I look around and see what I can add to the mix and eventually I decide it's enough. then I start on the next idea. I live with my creations every day; in my house, my car, my work, my play. And I hope to share some of the simple joy those creations bring with anyone else who wishes to help support creativity in fiber.

I come from a family of creative souls invested in a practical world. Adventure is in the world around us at all times and we like to add our own little signature to the works. I esxplored many mediums over the years. Once I picked up my first thread and fiber and made what I affectionally call the fugliest quilt ever, I was hooked on fiber. Over the years I have lived many places. Every time I pack up and move, the space reserved for my art supplies becomes larger and larger. I greet the sun with a smile and in front of the sewing machine. Along with my cats, nothing brings me more peace and satisfaction than bringing a vision to reality.

As a woman in her 40s I am continuing to learn daily. In the process of getting here in my life I have traveled more than many, less than some, which is how I was adopted by the descriptor 'Vagabond'. I have loved and answered to the name Indigo for more years than I care to talk about, and I like to design things (which shouldn't need explanation.)

All that being said, I have seen so much world that is surprisingly similar to the world next door. I have decided I prefer something a little quirky and a lot fun. I am inspired by color, and often by the contrast a lack of color makes. I look to nature, and often to man's engineering feats. The intricate grace of a giant refinery to the simple brightness of a marigold.

I have been sewing in some form for over 20 years. I love to play with fabrics in all kinds of modes - sewing, mixed media, decoupage - whatever it will brighten and make interesting. Currently most of my items are sewn and/or mixed media items. I love to use fabrics, beads, paints, canvas, wires, hardware, wood - the everyday made new.

I just love to make things, I love to share those things, and I love that someone else may love something I made. So, I hope you, or your aunt, or your best friend, or the lady at the coffee shop you were in last week will like something enough to spend what I know is hard won in today's crazy vagabond world.

Any prior discussions is not a commitment on either side until the order has been placed and payment made. Most custom orders take 3-5 days unless I state otherwise due to bulk or complexity in our discussions.

I do take bulk requests. If it is more than double what is available currently in the shop we will discuss the time it will take to make as that may extend into more than 7 days to acquire materials and labor time.

Wherever possible I will recycle, This includes printed materials, packing materials and of course materials used to make items in my shop.
