I launched my etsy shop in the summer of 2012 right after I moved from Santa Cruz, CA to Columbus, OH. I had been working at a Western Living magazine as a style/photo assistant and studio and prop room manager for 4 years. After a plethora of proceeding unique jobs, I decided to not only to take the plunge and move 2,000 some-odd miles opposite of what most people want, but also dove into the unknown excitement of creating and "living for a living".
I am constantly inspired by day to day interactions and the vignettes of life. From the unloved and forgotten items collecting dust and waiting to live a new adventure in corners of thrift stores and flea markets, to drawers and drawers of old lace my great Nonna from San Francisco collected, old atlases and maps colorfully depicting terrain that is no longer there, rather now twirled in roads and highways, and the way watercolor paint dances in a drop of water until you tell it where to go with your brush's strokes ... life is a giant panoramic scene in which I am fascinated with. I'm just trying to make sense of it the best I can, and if someone else can find something in it, it truly means the world to me.
Thanks for looking, friends.
XO,
VJS
