Designs are driven by a love of delicate details, contrasting textures, color in harmony, and graceful movement. My passion is for intricate patterns, whether organic or created, and for nature imagery. I explore styles from Victorian to Primitive, and I haven't yet decided if my favorite is Art Nouveau, for its flowing images of nature and Impressionist color palette, or Renaissance, for its luxurious materials, deep jewel tones, and layered details. In truth is is probably Boho for playfulness and earth textures.

My inspiration is my great-aunt's all-girl orchestra from the 1920s, The Vanity Review. That's her in my Etsy profile photo. Great-Aunt Irene played piano and traveled the Vaudeville circuit. Along the way, she collected many beautiful accessories which passed down to me and form form the heart of my collection. I always turn to them to spark my imagination with new designs.

* My aim is to create accessories that flatter your best features, giving you a memorable look that will complete your personal style. I also test my jewelry to not itch, weigh heavily, catch in your hair, or otherwise bug you.

* Because everything I make is handcrafted and one-of-a-kind, please let me know if certain lengths work better for you, or maybe you had hoped for s certain color version no't offered, just let me know as most designs can be adapted to order.

* My earrings are designed for pierced ears but can usually be modified to clip style on request. I use ear-wires that are precious-metal-plated and certified hypo-allergenic (nickel free), however for anyone with extreme high sensitivity, I can substitute surgical steel ear-wires on request, simply convo me.

* I usually design for a right-handed closure, so please let me know if you would prefer it for a left-handed wearer, just convo me your wishes.

I hope you love my collection as much as I do. I've always loved dressing up whether for work or for play. My spirit resonates to the wise words of a certain Miss C.F. Forester:
"The sense of being well-dressed
gives a feeling of inward tranquility
which religion is powerless to bestow."

Major kudos to Lorraine for not only making a beautiful necklace (which I plan to wear on my wedding day) but also for going the extra mile to fix an imperfection I noticed. Her work is lovely and she provides first rate customer service. Would absolutely recommend!

About

Handcrafted Jewelry in Art Nouveau Style

After a lifetime of sewing, knitting, crochet and embroidery, I got hooked on jewelry-making when I attempted to repair a favorite necklace. Turns out jewelry-making is addicting. First you buy the few items you need for a repair, but then you need tools and that brings you to the riches of the craft shops, which you begin to haunt in search of shiny things. And then you're hooked. Friends and family gave such an enthusiastic response to my work that I felt confident enough to set up shop on Etsy. And so here I am.

I've taken as my inspiration my Great-Aunt Irene -- flapper, rebel and vaudeville musician in the 1924 all-girl orchestra called "The Vanity Review". Aunt Irene left me some simply amazing treasures. An embroidered silk shawl. An ivory fan. A silver compact. A bootleg flask you tuck into a garter.

I added more to the collection, now that it's all my own, and the jewelry I design reflects the two of us. We're spunky and independent, and we love to dress up. We want jewelry that adds a touch of elegance to a busy woman's life. There is something about a bauble that lifts a girl's spirits, no matter what. I hope you like my collection as much as I do. Thanks for visiting, and thanks for reading.

Additional policies and FAQs
All designs are original, copyright The Vanity Review Emporium. My philosophy is that beauty should also be comfortable and easy to wear, so necklaces are double-strung for security, under-wired for extra support, and designed to be smooth where they contact the skin; ear-wires are plated with precious metals and are hypo-allergenic. Surgical steel ear-wires can be substituted on request. To clean, gently wipe with a soft cloth or cotton dampened with rubbing alcohol and gently dry with a clean, dry cloth. Metal parts can gently polished with a quality metal polish such as Wright's or Haggerty. Do not immerse in water or use soap or other cleaning solutions or an ultrasonic cleaner.
