Vermont Rocks! Stainless Steel and Vermont Stone sculptures.

I personally find and collect all the rocks I use for my pieces, and all come from Vermont. I grind or cut the bottoms with an angle grinder or a tile saw so they sit flat on a surface. The stainless sports and wildlife figures are cut on a CNC laser machine and mounted into a drilled hole in the rock with marine epoxy. Some of the rocks are polished on the top surface with an electric polisher, the same type that is used to finish natural stone countertops. Very few have a tung oil finish applied to them to bring out color or to enhance the appearance of a water surface (like a loon on a lake, for instance). The rock climber figures use a nylon string to simulate climbing rope. Recently I have begun experimenting with making a few figures in silver, gold, and copper, but only in a very limited scale so far. I have approximately 100 figures in my stock, all limited to human-powered sports and wildlife found in Vermont and surrounding northeastern states. I am self-taught, and have been piddling around with this pursuit for about 8 years, but have gotten really serious about it in the past 2 years.
