5 out of 5 starsA beautiful, beautiful spoon. Truly heirloom quality. I'd had a few antique spoons but had to get rid of them, finally. Looked around and even bought a new spoon from a name brand. But that and all the others I saw (even searching for antique spoons on Etsy and eBay) were all too big and/ or too quirky. This one is perfect. And beautiful, so I'm ordering another. If you need a present for someone who appreciates highly crafted kitchen tools like this, I highly recommend.

5 out of 5 starsThis was actually a Large Spalted Maple spoon. Custom made and one of the most beautiful wooden spoons we’ve ever seen. Just beautiful..! We were shown the wood before it was made and shown the spoon before shipping to see if we liked it. Of course we did and it’s even nicer than it looked in the photo. Thank you..! 😎

Here's Jeff carving out the bowl of a walnut spoon.

Walnut spoons that have been cut into blanks. They have the bowls drawn on in pencil and are ready for carving.
Wooden spoons and kitchen utensils from our hands to yours. Made one at a time from local hardwoods.
Who we are:
Vermont Spoon is a collaboration between husband and wife Jeff and Ellen Falsgraf. Over the past 40 years, Jeff and Ellen have combined their talents of fine arts, photo-styling, baking, design and wood carving in numerous projects.
Why we make spoons:
As a chef and food stylist, Ellen saw a need for functional as well as beautiful cooking tools. So, together Jeff, an artist and museum designer, and I decided to make wooden spoons together in 2015.
Why you'll want to cook with our spoons:
The look and feel of our wooden spoons make for a joyful experience when using them. They are designed with an artist’s eye and a chef’s touch and are made with the best possible craftsmanship. We think wooden spoons should be part of your most treasured kitchen and cooking memories. The quality of our spoons can assure for use with generations to come. We are sure you will love your spoon just as much as we love to make them!
The finish and care of our spoons:
The spoons are sealed with food-safe flaxseed oil for a beautiful finish. They are easy to care for and a non-stick solution to today’s overuse of plastic. Just hand wash with mild soap and water and dry with a soft cloth.
The wood:
We have access to some amazing trees here in Vermont. We use locally sourced cherry, walnut, maple, and birch hardwoods. We use these in all of our designs. It’s hard to pick a favorite!
Cherry: Richly grained honey-colored wood. Cherry usually deepens over time, creating a richer hue. Some darker sap lines may be visible.
Walnut: Chocolate-colored wood. Some grain can be visible.
Ambrosia Maple: Grain patterns in wood caused by abnormal growing conditions, also called figured maple allows for contrasting shades of light and dark.
Birch: Light to reddish-brown colored wood. With a curly or wavy uniform grain.

Nellie is our shy rescue from the south. She is a sweetheart and we've had glimpses of her believing this is her forever home. Nellie likes to sleep on her bed under the worktable when we are carving. She is a great addition to the family.

Spoon Care and Maintenance
Your handmade wooden spoon is sanded to a smooth surface and sealed with food-safe Tried and True oil to seal the wood. Make sure to leave yours out of standing water, and don’t use the dishwasher for cleaning. We hope you will enjoy using and cooking with your spoons daily. The more they are used, the wood will acquire its unique character. Some woods, like cherry, will get darker over time with exposure. You can give your dry spoons a light sanding from time to time with 400 fine grit sandpaper, apply a light coat of oil, let dry, and polish with a soft cloth.
Gift wrapping and packaging
