FUNCTIONAL ART
When a six-year-old child looked at my concrete R2-D2 paperweight with wonder, I realized the power of creating with materials. Handmade pieces captivate everyone, and with over a decade of experience as an architectural designer in consulting firms, I decided to start my studio. Now, I design and create my own furniture and decorative objects.
Working solo has given me the joy of creativity, allowing me to explore different forms and experiment with concrete. Alongside designing and constructing residences, I take pride in crafting unique objects for interiors.
Most of the concrete I use is UHPC (Ultra High-Performance Concrete) and GFRC (Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete). This material lets me eliminate metal rebar, resulting in thinner, lighter pieces that are about 4-5 times stronger than normal concrete.
My primary design focus is capturing the fluidity of concrete. I use fabric forming to showcase the liquid nature of concrete in my designs, and I also experiment with straight edges and sharp corners to highlight the material’s versatility.
