cute barrettes but the ones I received were braided upside down so the ribbons came out of the top of the clasp. I had to take them apart and redo them. This YouTube explains it perfectly and even mentions you shouldn't braid them upside down. Perhaps this Etsy owner is too young to know how these were made "back in the day" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q69bJCQALW0

Hi Laura, Thank you for your feedback and the link. I am sorry to hear you were surprised at the appearance of your Braided Ribbon Barrettes, which are handmade with the ribbon tails facing the back of the head (over the clasp) on purpose, as shown in the listing photos. This is a new twist on the 80s barrettes, using a French clip instead of a Goody two-tine barrette, which tend to slip out of hair too easily. (Being a Grandma of 2, I do understand the older style to which you refer - I made them in the 80s too, but have since updated the design due to a better stay-factor for most hair types). Thank you for your feedback! - Victoria
Eight years later, still love the Etsy community!
I started my Victoria's Artisan Gifts & Bead Shop after a friend told me about Etsy, as a place to share my handcrafted items other than only at craft shows.
Since then, I have expanded my Chalkmats selection to different sizes, expanded my jewelry findings, and made new friends in the Etsy community.
My Braided Ribbon Barrettes have made an appearance in NYC, on Broadway at the Helen Hayes Theater Gift Shop, while Xanadu on Broadway had its run and then tour; my Travel Chalkmats have been featured in a Vancouver-based magazine and in a Gift Guide in a weekly Maine newspaper. I am thrilled to have customers all over the U.S and Canada.
In April 2016, I moved the shop to Claremont, New Hampshire, and I will continue to appear at local craft shows in the NH / VT area.
Thank you for 8 great years! I look forward to serving you in 2016 and beyond!
