Vintage Sewing Patterns, History and Style all rolled into one, can't help but love all that glorious fashion!
Hi my name is Amy and I am the owner of ViennasGrace. I will be celebrating 6 years as a vintage pattern seller on Etsy. I am married, my husband Jim and I share the love of all things vintage. From classic cars to furniture, we love it all! My obsession is, you guessed it, sewing patterns! We have two kids, Tanner our son is 10, and Vienna, my shop’s name sake, is 12. I never planned on naming my shop after my daughter, it just happened and stuck. We just moved down to the flat lands of the beautiful Clovis, California in The Central Valley. Known for it's agriculture, antique shops, and a great way of family living, Clovis was an easy choice for our family, saying goodbye to the mountain life after 12 years in Squaw Valley, California.
I have been sewing since the 4th Grade, a country girl and member of 4-H. I continued to sew as a teenager in the 1980’s I found that having the ability to sew could come in handy. I could buy the boring clothes off the rack and alter them to mimic Seventeen Magazine and fashions from MTV. I used every tool available to me to make my clothing unique. I used bleach, fabric dyes, and of course my sewing machine. My mother stood watching shaking her head and dismayed at my choice of alterations. Even today, in my 40’s, I still use my sewing skills and love of vintage to create a mix of vintage and modern fashions for my daily wardrobe.
When my grandparent’s home was being cleaned out after they had both passed, I found a box of my grandmother’s sewing patterns in the dumpster. They were patterns dating from the 1930’s to the 1950’s. I rescued that box and my collection was started. I saw in vintage patterns so many possibilities of glamour and high fashion. My love affair with vintage fashion had begun. My collection continued to grow as did my desire to share them with others. I wanted to inspire others to create their own personal style.
When people ask me about my job, I say, “Oh this is never a job, it is something I treasure. I enjoy every minute.” I do truly enjoy and love what I do. The whole process of finding, researching, and even checking to make sure that each pattern has all of its pieces. Every pattern I pick up and hold in my hands has a history. My goal is to make sure it has a future. I enjoy the patterns so much that that sometimes I forget to take the time to create fashions for myself. I think that every era of fashion has value. I don’t have an era that I focus on. Right now I’m drawn to the 1930’s and the 1960’s. Someone once said that my personal style was an even mix of Jimi Hendrix and Veronica Lake.
I share my personal style and viewpoint on current fashion trends and mixing vintage and modern, as well as vintage sewing patterns every month on the Pattern Patter Team Blog. I write about fashion trends and the history of the style. My most recent contribution can be found on Pattern Patter Team Blog
And the girl on my banner, well that is Vienna.

I mail pattern First Class Parcel for US and international
ALL PATTERNS are in a plastic sleeve or zippy depending on their size, and tissue or paper wrapped.
United States customers will receive their pattern in a firm sided envelope. If you have other requests, maybe a soft sided for mail box purposes, please let me know and I can change envelopes. I also will have available an external plastic envelope for rainier areas and seasons, please let me know if by chance your mail is ever left outside to the elements. Many larger sized patterns will come in a soft sided bubble wrap envelope, but will add a cardboard insert to keep in from being bendable.
I can add insurance at the buyers request, but it will also be an additional expence to the buyer unless otherwise stated in the listing. But I do ship all US orders through Etsy shipping and insurance is much more affordable now. The pattern will come safely to you with tracking automated through Etsy Shipping
INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS PLEASE READ
As of late, most international shipment are carrying a tracking number automated through Etsy shipping. Now insurance is a possibility through Etsy to most countries at an affordable rate, but is not added on unless requested or pattern is of high value. Since I have no way of being certain of the time a pattern will take to arrive on international order, but I can give you an estimate shipping time, according to prior shipments to your country. I do have to fill out a customs form for international orders and it will be automated through Etsy mailing label at accurate amount of purchase, I'm sorry there are no exceptions. Your pattern will be labeled as "Pre-owned sewng pattern" on the custom form. The international buyer is completely responsible for custom costs that your country may or may not have you pay. Please be aware on your countries custom fees so there is no surprises. Refusal to pay fees on your end, from your customs office will possibly send the pattern back to me. If the pattern arrives in the same condition as sent, I will consider the situation for refund, but will not refund the postal fees or any other fees that I am out, including shipping, insurance, packaging, ect. Occasionally to keep international shipping costs as low as possible international shipments might be mailed in a lighter envelope, but I make sure it is safe and secure. Many of the lighter envelopes are able to be sent in a rigid envelope if keeping within the weight limits. International shipping rates on multiple items is often much less than the auto generated cost, I will refund overages over $1.00. Sending one pattern international might be $12.83, but usually sending 5, 6, 7 might only cost $15.00 total, keep that in mind when shopping, always ask and I can give you a shipping estimate.
~~~~If any or all of this is confusing, please contact me so we can figure out the options that work best for both of us.~~~~~
*****PLEASE CONFIRM YOU HAVE A COMPLETE AND CORRECT SHIPPING ADDRESS ENTERED INTO YOUR ETSY ACCOUNT.
INTERNATIONAL ORDERS NOW REQUIRE A FIRST AND LAST NAME, make sure you have that updated. I am unable to even print out a label with an incomplete name and address.*****
Refunds and Exchanges
I try to give my best judgement on the condition of the pattern pieces and the envelope. It is just my personal opinion and it may differ from another persons idea of what is good, great, poor, ect.
I may miss something in my pattern checking, but please let me know right away if I did.
Odors and Pets: These patterns come from all over and from many different homes. I can not say they are ever from a pet free or smoke free home. I will however note if the pattern has a particular strong odor. But what I think may smell fine, may be a smell to your nose. I will try my best, I have on occasion put some strong "vintage" smelling patterns through a baking soda and ionic deodorizing system. But I have truly found that almost all odors will dissipate when placed in fresh air or sunshine. If you for some reason have a particularly sensitive nose please contact me prior to your purchase and I will double check the pattern for even the slightest odor. As far as pets go, I have found hair on a pattern before from a "pet free" home, turns out she also made mohair teddy bears. Please feel free to contact regarding any questions or concerns you may have.
