All Things Vintage
My love for old things began, perhaps, with loving the old people in my life - my great grandparents and grandparents. I loved them and their ways, and their things. I particularly recall watching my great grandmother sit at her vanity and brush her long, white hair and thought her hairbrush was the prettiest thing I had ever seen.
As I grew older, I began collecting my own old things: furniture, music boxes, compact mirrors, perfume bottles, and jewelry. It was the cameos which I first loved and which I continue to appreciate. My own cameo collection includes some 300 pieces. I so well recall the first cameo I ever received, and it was a ring given to me by the first boy I ever loved. Some forty five years later, I still value that ring as one of my most prized possessions.
As my cameo brooch collection grew and enlarged, I decided to branch out into other types of vintage jewelry. I began educating myself in whatever way I could about vintage. I had the good fortune to become friends with a lady who had sold vintage at the local Memphis flea market for more than thirty years. She became my mentor in the business. As I have collected and learned, I have become well known among to the estate sale dealers, antique dealers, and auctioneers in Memphis and am well respected by them for my knowledge, and am often consulted by them for information about things they are unfamiliar with. I am always eager to share with others what I know, as well as the history that I know of the things I sell.
My daughter and sixteen year old grandson have inherited my love for the old, and they often accompany me on my buying adventures, with each of them having found their own things of interest to collect. More and more, my son and his wife are starting to appreciate the old things, too.
It was after my own collections grew so enlarged that I decided to open my shop at Etsy so that I could bring to others some of the wonderful things that I enjoy. Nothing pleases me more than the smile on a customer's face when she finds one of my old brooches and says, "My grandmother had one just like this."
I am the sole manager and operator of my Etsy shop. I am an avid photographer, so I especially love the photography aspect of my business and strive to offer good photos which well depict my items. The things I offer in my shop are of good and high quality, and I strive to find things which are just a little unusual. I am always happy to answer questions about the things I sell. I have two Etsy shops, VintageAndOld and also VintageAndVictorian.

I am a long time collector of all things old. I live in Memphis, TN and am retired from the legal profession. I am the mom of two children and one grandchild who have inherited my love for the old.
I can honestly say that, with shipping of these approximately 2,500 items through USPS, I have never had a package go missing. I also have never had a package or item damaged during shipment, due to the fact that I go to great efforts to package well to insure safe delivery. By the time I use extra padding and wrap, this will increase the bulkiness and may require a larger shipping box; thus, the shipping cost may be a little higher than expected; however, it is a concern to me to know your packages arrive safely, just as I know that is a concern to you. I also have never had a complaint that an item was not as described, as I take extra effort to describe every item I sell as accurately as I can.
Prior to purchasing items from my shops, it is important that you read my full descriptions and my policies, as well as ask any questions.
I want you to be happy with your purchases from my shops, and I believe you will be. **I would remind you that I do not sell new items. I sell vintage items, which have all been pre-owned, and most have been pre-used. Accepted payment methods
SHIPPING METHOD: I ship via USPS, with 99.9% of everything I ship being sent either 1st Class or Priority. In some cases, I may ship via USPS Flat Rate. In a few instances, I will ship USPS Standard, but not as a rule. There are a few instances where I also may ship something via UPS.
SIGNATURE CONFIRMATION: Orders totaling $50 or more will be sent with signature confirmation; however, if signature delivery to your home is not convenient, I will be happy to ship to your business address.
INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: I do NOT ship internationally. I am aware, however, that an occasional International buyer will make a purchase from my shop and provide an American address for the item to be sent, and then the person at that address forwards it to the International person. If you are an International buyer who uses this method to obtain items from my shop, please take notice that once I ship the item to the person at the designated shipment address, my responsibility for getting the item safely delivered has been met. It then becomes the responsibility of the person at the designated shipping address to forward the item to the international buyer. In the event that person does not forward the item to the international buyer, its non-delivery is an issue between the international buyer and the person who received it and was responsible for forwarding it to the international buyer. The same holds true for damage during shipment. My responsibility is to get the item delivered safely to the person at the designated address, and it then becomes that person's responsibility to get the item safely delivered to the international buyer in his/her country.
SHIPPING FEES/SHIPPING REFUND: Buyer pays shipping fees. Unless an item is returned for a reason that is my fault, I do not reimburse shipping fees or pay the shipping cost to return an item. It is important that buyers read descriptions and policies. For instance, if you purchase an item where the measurements are clearly stated, a complaint about the item's size would not be something for which I am faulted. If an item's flaw is described, then a complaint about that same flaw would not be something for which I am faulted. Please read the descriptions and the policies.
Refunds and Exchanges
IF IT'S MY FAULT:
I carefully examine every item at the time I purchase it, when I list it, and when I pack it to ship. I fully disclose visible flaws. Should I mistakenly overlook a flaw in the item's description, buyer may return the item to me for examination and determination of refund and shipping fees. "Flaws and Imperfections" do not include shipping related damage.
IF IT'S NOT MY FAULT:
I will refund the buyer for the cost of the item if it is returned to me within five (5) business days, and if it is received by me in its original condition. I will make no refunds for items which have been damaged or altered. If an item is returned to me for some reason that is not my fault, I will not refund Buyer's initial shipping fees, nor the fee to return it to me. If it is returned for a reason that is not my fault, I also deduct from the refund amount for my shipping expenses, such as for insurance and signature confirmation.
RECEIPT OF RETURN OF ITEMS: If Buyer wishes to return an item, I must be notified immediately upon Buyer's receipt of the item. Do not return an item without first contacting me. I must receive returned items within five (5) business days from the date buyer receives it. I must receive all returned items in the original condition they were in when I shipped them to buyer. Prior to making any refunds, the items must first be returned to me for inspection, and refunds are contingent upon the results of my inspection.
SHIPPING EXPENSES: I do not refund buyer's initial shipping expenses if the item is returned for some reason that is not my fault. I also deduct from the amount of refund the my shipping expenses such as the purchase of insurance and signature confirmation.
Additional policies and FAQs
***I have shipped approximately 2,500 items through sales from Etsy and other venues. I have never had a package go missing. I also have never had a claim of damage to an item during shipment. This is because I go to great extremes to package well. Because I use an abundance of packing materials, this results in an item being bulky and heavier, as well as requiring a larger box. This may increase the postage amount. I have a great concern about my shipments arriving safely to my buyers, as I am sure my buyers wish to receive their items safely. Due to my packaging in order to effectuate safe shipping, however, the postage may be a bit costlier than expected.
