Welcome to our page. We have many other items for sale, including non Art Deco items so message us if you would like to know more. We also have a dedicated facebook page with exclusive offers www.facebook.com/vintagedecouk

We aim to run our shop in a fair, transparent and honest fashion. All pictures are recent, any item damage will be clearly listed and where possible will enclose pictures for clarity. Packing is always comprehensive and we ship within 3 - 5 working days of payment being received.

Please note international postage is quoted for Australia, this is the most expensive location to post, we will confirm exact postage costs once we know the location of the buyer.

Payment by paypal is our recommended method, however we will accept bank transfers and cash if being picked up in person.

Shipping

We aim to post within 3 - 5 working days of payment being made. All parcels will be carefully packed. Local pick up can also be considered.

Covid 19 global restrictions are causing considerable postage delays and as such please be patient with your delivery. Keep an eye on tracking provided. As always contact us if you have any questions / issues.

Postage is quoted as at courier prices at time of listing. These may change and we reserve the right to charge more should these changes occur. We will give the customer the right to cancel their order should this happen.

We use a parcel comparison site to source the most competitive quotes. They source special offers working in partnership with domestic carriers in Australia, America and other International countries, this brings postage costs down to very competitive levels. Out postage quotes are based on this special service for these countries. Should these offers end then we would have to resort to more expensive carriers for such deliveries.

Couriers do not insure for damage to glass so we cover the costs ourselves, hence the secure packing service we offer plus we also track all parcels sent to ensure this gives confidence to ourselves and our customers regarding items in transit.

If items have not arrived please contact us within one month of the order being shipped. Posting abroad can take anything up to 4 weeks for delivery so please check the tracking information provided in the first instance. If items have been recorded as delivered and you still have not received them please contact us within one month of the delivery date on the tracking and we will open a case with the courier. After one month no case can be opened.

The emphasis is on the customer to ensure they track their parcel. We offer a tracked service on all our items and as such if there are issue please contact us as quickly as possible so we can work together to resolve.

Items that have not arrived / been received one month after items have been tracked as delivered are not our responsibility to refund. We will of course do everything we can to help trace your parcel and may refund part or fully for the item but postage costs will not be refunded. Remember you must be responsible for tracking your parcel and ensure any issue is raised with us as soon as possible.

Frequently asked questions

Cost of shipping Internationally (e.g. Australia)

Australian posting is listed on the shipping section of an item. If seen on the web page click on the shipping link under the price. Simply change the location to Australia and postage cost is listed.

Australia is used as the default postage option owing to the fact they are our biggest customer. For other International destinations such as Canada and the USA postage will be slightly lower. Asia, Africa, South America and Far East will need custom postage quotes to please message before purchase as cost may be high. For Russian deliveries please see the separate Q&A.

EU customers will benefit from much lower postage than stated. Please message me for an updated quote before purchase.

Which countries do you not ship to?

From 1st July 2022 we will no longer post to Germany owing to their recent recycling requirements. We also do not ship to Russia. Any order from these countries will be cancelled and refunded.

Do you offer postage discounts for multiple purchases

Yes. Best to message us in the first instance before purchasing with details of the items you are interested in. We can confirm revised postage and amend the postage charge before you buy.

Do you use the Global Shipping Programme

No we do not use GSP owing to the issues associated with this service for buyers of antique items. We mainly use Parcel2Go courier comparison site to source the best price and service.

Condition Reports and Returns

We always provide a detailed condition report on each item. We try to be as accurate as possible. We use look and feel to describe our items. We do not use a magnifying glass. These are vintage items and many are over 100 years old so please keep this in mind when purchasing.

If you wish to return an item it will only be considered if you contact us within one month of the registered delivery date.

So you offer instalment payments?

Yes in certain circumstances. Please contact us with details of the items you are interested in and we can discuss how this works.

Are you GDPR compliant?

European Data Protection law is changing to ensure personal and sensitive data is better protected. Etsy is taking steps to ensure compliance with this law. Part of their plan is to remove the details of your email addresses from any order. As a business we continue to use this data to ensure you receive your tracking instructions for your parcels. As a result when you order you will receive an email from us asking to confirm your email address to enable us to send you the tracking info for your parcel. If you do not wish to supply this information then we will simply private message you the tracking info.

PLEASE NOTE as at 31st December 2020 the UK has formally left the EU and as such there may be future changes to GDPR in the UK

If I live outside the UK is it safe to buy a UK wired electrical item

PLEASE NOTE:

Owing to UK distance selling regulations regarding the sale of vintage electrical items when we sell electrical items outside the UK we will remove the UK plug before posting. We recommend that all electrical items we send are checked by a qualified electrician within your home country before use.

How will Brexit affect orders from the EU or Northern Ireland?

The UK formally left the EU single market on 31st December 2020 and as a result shipping to EU countries will be a bit different going forward. Customs invoices will need to be completed for each EU order and you may have to pay import duties. Freight to the EU may also be delayed until the new processes are embedded so please be patient if orders take a bit longer to arrive.

Northern Ireland has a separate regime from the UK mainland owing to its land border with the EU. Customs will need to be paid on any order sent to NI from the UK mainland.

Brexit and GPSR

The UK formally left the EU single market on 31st December 2020. Since Brext we have complied with the new laws. Following the introduction of GPSR on 13th December 2024 we will not be selling any items to the EU, this includes Norther Ireland, UK orders are for mainland UK only. Items we sell are Antique by nature but we will not risk any issues with future interpretations of what is and isn't included with the scope of GPSR. Any EU or NI orders will be cancelled and fully refunded.
