Frequently asked questions
What scale are the items?
Because scales vary from Europe to America, each item is photographed with a ruler to help you determine if it will work in your settings.
Do you combine shipping?
Yes! Etsy does not estimate and charge for shipping minis very well. Often customers are overcharged because Etsy thinks minis weigh more and I’ll refund the difference when I ship. On free shipping, packages with combined weight of under 16oz will be mailed first class unless a shipping upgrade is requested and paid for.
How can I tell the scale I need?
Most dollhouse miniatures come in 1:12. That means that every inch = 12 “ in real life. A table that is 3” tall would be 3’ tall. If your house has door frames that are around 7”, that would be 7’ in your home. This scale is good with Maileg. Another popular scale is 1:16 that was used by Scandinavian makers as well as in the US as a 3/4 scale. Those are interchangeable. But, earlier pieces weren’t as true to scale. There are differences in countries of origin. 1:10 is a very widely-seen German scale. It’s larger than the 1:12 but not as big as 1:8 used by Ginny or 1:6 of Barbie.
Unless your focus is realism, many people mix the scales for fun. I try to not focus too on scale but all of my listings include a ruler. Feel free to ask
Can I send you minis I don’t use?
Often I’ll give store credit for pieces in good quality and I accept donations of damaged pieces for for Misfit Monday’s and accessories for the Tiny Thrift Store listings. Mini used books can find a new home through my bookstore.
If needed, I can provide store credit towards shipping costs for donations. My mission is to help every vintage mini find a loving new home. If you have minis you’d like to pass on, sending them to me helps them towards their next home and helps a woman-owned mini business. 💗Minis can be mailed to:

Does your furniture work for Maileg Mice?
Maileg mice can use vintage dollhouse furniture. While mom and dad mouse size furniture tends to be 1:10 or 1:12, Little sister and brother size fit well with 1:16. If you are purchasing for children, please take note the painted vintage dollhouse furniture may have used lead. When I paint furniture, I use nontoxic paints and that is often noted, but not always. If you have a question about a specific item, please ask. Thanks!
Can I put an item on hold?
Yes. I’ll put items on reserve for a non-refundable 10% deposit for a maximum of 15 days. Just message me.
Do you accept returns?
As a small business, returns are not easy :) but I want everyone to love each item so I will accept returns for store credit if you mail it back to me within 14 days with a label I provide.
I cannot credit shipping costs since that cost was already incurred and has already left my account to Etsy. I also deduct the cost of the return shipping. I must also deduct .20 per item that is my cost to re- list the item. Thank you for understanding!!
I’m sending this as a gift, can you leave out the invoice and include a card?
Yes! Happy to send your gift to your loved one. Be sure to mark it as a gift and send a note that let’s me know about any deadlines and please include the message you would like on the card. I usually use small note cards with a simple feel.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes! And you can often ship more pieces at a lower price with combined shipping. Just ask me how.
