About VintageFabricStudios

Create Your Vintage Today.

Vintage Fabric Studio was created to bring you a unique and nostalgic touch to your sewing, quilting, and crafting creations. Started in 2017 by Kelly Cole in Portland, Oregon with the mission to find beautiful sheets in good condition and turn them into a quilt shop quality product.

Kelly achieves this by using an Accuquilt die-cutter to precisely make pre-cuts of charm pack (5” squares) and patchwork stacks (8.5” squares). In the on-line shop you will also find fat quarter bundles in easy to use color ways of warm, cool, rainbow, and low-volume which include a surprise selection of curated prints and colors pulled just for your order.

If you are looking for fat quarter bundles with specific prints we also offer a limited selection of curated bundles where what you see in the listing is what you get. In addition to pre-cuts you will find a selection of vintage fabric and vintage sheet yardage available for purchase. Mix and match your favorites to create the ultimate bundle for your exact tastes.

Vintage Fabric Studio also carries a limited selection of DIY kits made with a beginning crafter in mind. All our kits include everything you need to make the project and the necessary instructions to ensure your project is an adorable success. Kits include a pincushion, picnic quilt, and garland; all made from vintage sheets.

Each piece of fabric is also washed in a special blend of detergent to ensure no lingering smells and inspected several times during the production process for stains and holes. I only buy sheets and fabric in above average condition and I do my human best to get you the best vintage textiles in the best condition possible.

I believe that our everyday choices can make this world a better place; my choice to rescue vintage linens and reuse them in our modern life creates a reverence for the past and our planet in a beautiful way. I invite you to try the magic of vintage sheets by using them in your next creation.

Frequently asked questions
What does it mean when you say vintage sheets and fabric?

There are a few terms for what ‘vintage’ means. I look for fabric and sheets between the years of 1940 to 1980. Older than that you are in the antique age, newer than that you are in the retro age. Typically what I have found researching this era is that vintage is not less than 20 years old. I like the style and designs of that particular 40 year span and that is what I buy for Vintage Fabric Studio; really cute vintage fabrics.

What is the fiber content of vintage sheets?

Most vintage sheets are 50% cotton and 50% polyester. There are some with a different variation, 60%/40% and a few that are 100% cotton. 95% of the vintage sheets we offer are the 50/50 blend.

You clean the sheets and fabric, right?

YES. So many times yes. Each piece of fabric is washed (unless noted, ie. comes to you in original packaging) in hot hot water with detergent and a special mix of cleaning agents. The fabric soaks anywhere from 12-24 hours in the super wash. This process releases any dirt and smell that might have been lingering. Once cleaned the sheets are machine dried and inspected again to double check for flaws, rips or stains.

Is each piece of fabric in perfect condition?

Well, mostly. We take a lot of pride in the final product and that is only possible if each piece is clean, cut accurately and in the style you have come to love here at Vintage Fabric Studio. And as much as I would love to say 100% of every piece is going to be 100% perfect I just can’t. It is the nature of vintage textiles to have some flaws. What I can say is that each piece that leaves the studio has been checked, checked and rechecked and if something does manage to slip through our eagle eyes we will do our best to make it right with you. Please contact us first with any questions or concerns you have about a completed or pending order.
