Thank you so much. I received my lapel pin today. It is amazing thank you for making this one of a kind. It's a piece of art. Elizabeth was great keeping in touch with and the delivery was extremely fast. It took only three days.

Beautiful and delicate feather trims. The colour is vibrant and the finish is perfect. Will look amazing on my ceramic piece.

About

A barn full of early 1900s vintage millinery trims.

In 1995, a once-in-a-lifetime collection of early 1900s millinery trims came into our possession when my husband and I were fortunate enough to obtain the warehouse inventory of Max Herman and Co. and Successors from 37th Street, NYC. Tucked away in a barn in upstate NY for 50 years were many thousands of feather (and flower hat trims and thousands of antique glass French eyes for dolls/teddy bears/millinery). Most were made between WWI and WWII, and many still had their “Paris” and “Germany” labels of origin. You can read more about our story in this New York Times article. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/12/13/nyregion/a-columbia-county-nest-that-came-fully-feathered.html?_r=0

Our mission since that time has been getting them into the hands of milliners, costumers, fly tiers, and other fine artisans and crafts-people who will use them. Our clients have included the renowned Philip Treacy of London, the Metropolitan Opera, the Tinsel Trading Company in NYC, the costumer for "The Hunger Games" (I could not find where they used them on Effie Trinket's dresses, so they may not have used them), the costumer for "Boardwalk Empire," and the fashion house of Maison Martin Margiela. Almost 20 years later, we still have over 7,500 of these trims for sale, plus the Sample Collection, which includes close to 2,000 unique trims. Each of the 100+ styles has anywhere from one to over a dozen colors.

Our Etsy shop includes some of these feather trims, the glass eyes, and handmade boutonnieres made from vintage feathers "in-house" .

Please message us with any questions you may have. Thanks for stopping by.

Welcome! We have been selling early 1900s vintage millinery trims since 1996. Most were made between WWI and WWII, and many of the feather trims still have their "Paris" and "Germany" labels on them.

A few years back, a customer asked us if we could make a custom lapel pin for him. We made one. He loved it. We made another. He loved that too. Then we made more. You can find some of them in our Etsy shop.

We put other items of interest in our Etsy shop from time to time as we procure them.

Payment
We accept Paypal, payment through Etsy direct check out, and money orders. If you really want to send us a check, we will accept that as well, but it must clear our account before shipment.
Shipping
We use the USPS and prefer boxed priority mail for fast, safe delivery on all domestic US purchases. On occasion, we can use an envelope with trims that can safely travel that way. Those items will be indicated as such. For international purchases, we use first class international service as it is almost as fast as priority and about half the cost. Insurance is up to you- we use delivery confirmation on all US packages.

For feather trims, we have a flat rate shipping charge of $5.00, regardless of order size, for all USA orders. It is $15.00 flat rate for all international orders, regardless of order size.
Refunds and Exchanges
In 19 years of selling trims, we have had less than 1% returns on our trims. If you receive your item and are not happy with it, please contact us within 2 days and we will refund your purchase price when we receive the item back in the same condition it was sent out in. Again, insurance is up to you, and we use delivery confirmation.
