I don't mind the flaws (that were listed in the description), but I am disappointed in the color. Instead of the bright rose color of the border, it is actually a deep burgundy color. So it won't work with the coat I intended to wear it with, but it is still a pretty accessory for something else.

Obsessive about pretty vintage and upcycling

My dad got me into antiques by telling me stories about England, finding open salts on the tables in pubs, and the ritual of tea. We'd go antiquing on weekends, and I enjoyed driving into the country.

I'd eventually collected enough stuff that my house was getting overwhelmed. I decided to get booth space at my favorite local antique mall, and found I enjoyed selling a mix of my old goodies and thrift finds. During my five-year tenure at the antique mall, Etsy came along and I dipped my toe in by opening a shop. I love Etsy, because I've also gotten into upcycling using vintage materials. So I mix the vintage and handmade, selling exclusively at VintageHand.

Welcome to VintageHand, where we specialize in estate jewelry, vintage accessories, and other fine antiques. We also upcycle vintage items to bring them new life.

Antique and vintage items are, by their very nature, used. I have done my best to accurately describe and photograph items. When in doubt, you will see terms like "approximately" and "estimated" ~ if you need to know for sure, please send me a convo prior to purchase and I'll do my best to clarify. Please read the entire item description (including photos*) before ordering as they will contain pertinent detail.
*Etsy limits us to 5 photographs, which on certain items is not enough to properly disclose condition and details. Oftentimes, I will include in the description information regarding how to access additional item photos. Please follow the link (or copy and paste the address into a new browser window) to view ALL photos. By making a purchase, you are acknowledging that you have read the description and viewed all photos available, on Etsy AND where directed to look for more. If you have trouble with the links, contact me prior to purchase and we can discuss an alternate photo sharing method.

We gladly accept both PayPal and Direct Checkout with most major credit cards. Please make sure that your address is complete and correct in your Etsy account PRIOR to purchase to assure delivery goes smoothly. If you purchase via PayPal, your PayPal and Etsy addresses should match!

Prompt payment is appreciated. If you have trouble with the Etsy system, please convo me. Cancellations by the buyer cannot be honored after the item is shipped.
Be sure your registered Etsy address matches your PayPal and/or Credit Card address or delays may be encountered (I cannot stress this enough!).

VintageHand isn’t responsible for customs fees or other duties imposed by a foreign country; we have no way of calculating these charges and they are the SOLE responsibility of the buyer. Sales tax is NOT charged in Oregon, where VintageHand is located!
We use the USPS and pack with care using recycled materials whenever possible. All items are packed thoughtfully for the best chance at a safe arrival. We most often use Priority Mail (2-3 day service), especially since the post office has eliminated cheaper services for anything over 13 ounces. I will only ship International packages using methods that include tracking; this eliminates all inexpensive methods, unfortunately. If you have special needs regarding shipping, please convo me before ordering, so we can do our best to accommodate you. Shipping does not include insurance unless indicated in the listing (fine jewelry must be insured and insurance is included in the shipping cost).

INTERNATIONAL shipments are welcome. However, please Note that the USPS will not allow shipment of jewelry, silver, and antique quilts to certain countries. We can ship using FedEx, but I have found their rates to be much higher (approximately 6 times the USPS cost).

A note regarding customs for all non-US customers: please note that all duties, taxes and customs fees assessed by your friendly customs agent are YOUR responsibility. Please be aware of your country's laws and fees associated with shopping abroad. International delivery times vary widely depending on location. Valuables must include Registered Mail service or Insurance in order to be able to track them.

* As of late, and especially around the holidays, there seems to be a major issue with items marked "delivered" by the USPS, but in actuality are not received. If this happens with one of my shipments, it is a requirement that YOU, the BUYER, file a "Mail Theft" complaint before a refund can be issued by the Post Office. The link to do this is here:
* You must file this, as I am the seller and cannot file a theft claim for any address other than my own.

* Once in a while, shipping does not go as planned and an item gets damaged. When this occurs, a claim must be filed, which will need to include photographs of the damage. In addition, the USPS requires that the PACKAGING MATERIALS BE KEPT in the event they want to inspect them. Be sure to take photos of the packaging and the damaged item in order to file a claim. I am available to help you with this process, as Damaged Mail claims can be initiated by either the buyer or the seller, but Buyer cooperation is required during the process.

COSTS: VintageHand does not attempt to profit from shipping costs, but occasionally costs are over- or under-estimated, especially since the USPS is constantly increasing shipping prices and changing their policies to require insurance simply to prove delivery. We do not provide refunds on shipping, nor do we ask for additional funds if shipping is under-estimated. Bundled shipping discounts are available for multiple-item orders; this is calculated automatically as you put items in your cart.
Refunds and Exchanges
Diligent research, abundant photos & appropriate product representation are just some of the methods used to provide customer satisfaction. However, the infrequent issue can occur. Should one arise, please send a detailed convo regarding the issue. Although refunds, returns & exchanges are not typically offered due to the vintage nature of items in our shop, assistance to resolve the situation may be available if an item was grossly mis-described. We do NOT accept returns for Buyer’s remorse.

Any item being returned must have our pre-authorization to do so. It must be returned within 7 days using a trackable and insured postal method. Once an item is received in the exact condition it was mailed to you, a return can be processed. VintageHand incurs commissions immediately and may reduce the size of any refund that MAY be offered; a 10% re-stocking fee is also deducted. Shipping charges are non-refundable. If the item is returned in any condition other than how it was shipped, it WILL impact the refund offered, if any.

MIS-DIRECTED MAIL: Be SURE your Etsy and Payment method/billing addresses match and that they are current. I cannot file a claim or offer a refund if your delivery address is incorrectly listed in your account.

DELIVERED BUT NOT RECEIVED MAIL: Be SURE you will be available to receive your package. I cannot file a claim if your package was stolen off your porch. You must handle that, as that is a local issue, and I, as the seller, cannot file a Mail Theft claim.

DAMAGED MAIL: The USPS requires three items in order to pay a claim. If any one of the following items is missing, the claim may be denied:
1. You must take the broken item, packaging and packing to YOUR LOCAL POST OFFICE and fill out Form 2856 which is a damaged claim form. If this step is not fulfilled by you, the claim may be denied.
2. I will need clear and concise pictures of the following:
3. The date you filed Form 2856 (which must be within 30 days of receipt).

Claims may take 30 days to process for Domestic and up to 4 months for International. NOTE: International claims cannot be initiated/filed until 45 days after the estimated delivery date has passed.

*** PLEASE TAKE NOTE THAT ANY REFUND offered can be reduced by the following:
2. Credit Card Fees if applicable.
4. Any VAT, Import or Customs taxes levied by recipient's country.

Damaged or lost items cannot be replaced, as each item is often one-of-a-kind. VintageHand is happy to assist the buyer with USPS insurance claims if insurance was purchased. We do pack breakables with utmost care. We have a smoke-free, pet-friendly home. Please convo me if you have specific concerns, although we endeavor to keep quilts and blankets in a pet-free room.
Additional policies and FAQs
Antiques are, by their very nature, well-loved and used items. I have done my best to accurately describe and photograph items and their condition. Additional details & information is always available upon request. Original artwork and upcycled crafts, likewise, are hand-made and therefore unique and imperfect, but that adds to their charm.

I am not an appraiser and would question the authenticity of sellers who provide self-prepared appraisals. I sometimes get independent appraisals, but on pieces with smaller stones, I find the cost I have to add to the jewelry as a result of getting an appraisal doesn't make people more likely to buy and then I can't offer as good a price. I have been buying vintage jewelry for over a decade and only deal with reputable pawn shops and estate sale purveyors. If in doubt, don't buy. I don't guarantee value, as the appeal of vintage jewelry often goes beyond the value of the stones, intricate workmanship, and metals.

VintageHand's physical inventory is surprisingly large. If a desired item isn't listed, an inventory search can be requested at any time.

All items listed are deemed adult collectibles, regardless of language used in item descriptions, tags & titles. No items sold here are intended for use by children & therefore are not required to comply with the legal lead limits defined by the CPSIA, especially given their vintage nature.
