CUSTOM VINTAGE MONOGRAM FAQ

Q: Do you actually draw these monograms?
A: No. I compile vintage monograms from various sources, including rare engraving manuals. I have purchased usage rights under contract for any images I provide for resale that are from copyrighted material. Occasionally, I will combine vintage initials to create a monogram.

Q: What exactly is a set of vintage monograms?
A: One digital file of 6 or more vintage monogram combinations of the same two requested initials. 6 guaranteed, more if I can find them.

Q: Can you supply 3-initial monograms?
A: 3-initial monogram matches are more difficult to find, but on occasion I find one or two and will include them upon request.

Q: Can I request a certain style of monogram?
A: No, sorry, I am only able to supply what can be found in my resources.

Q: I notice one of your example sets are my actual initials, can I purchase that set at a discount?
A: Yes. If I already have your set of initials, I will gladly offer you a $25 discount.

Q: How are the monograms supplied to me?
A: Your set of monograms will be e-mailed to you as an 8.5" x 11" PDF file in black & white and color. Colors are randomly chosen by me unless specific colors are requested at time of order.

Q: I notice the lines of some monograms are rough and broken. Do you retouch vintage monograms from your resources?
A: No. I scan the vintage images as I find them. To clean up the lines would take many, many hours and can become very costly. Monograms with a shabby appearance are indicative of an antique style.

Q: I’m not very savvy with the computer, how can I use these?
A: You can have a graphic or print service pull an individual monogram from the PDF file for enlarging or printing. I use Adobe Illustrator for all design work, but many photo editing software will allow you to manipulate your monograms for various uses. You might be surprised to find you have friends that may know how to do much of this. You may choose to simply print the PDF file and enlarge/adjust with a copier as needed. You can also place the file on a disk for safe keeping or gift giving.

Q: Do I request my first and last initials?
A: Initials for monograms can be either be from a first and last name, a combination of two people’s names, two initials of a company name, etc. I supply only one pair of initials per page. Please supply the initials in the order of preference.

Q: How long will it take to receive my mongrams?
A: Once your order has been placed, you will receive your PDF file within 2 weeks. If you need them sooner, please be sure to specify that when you order.
