Announcement   Welcome! :) Vintage Orphanage sells housewares, home decor items, kitchen items, knickknacks, toys, and more from the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s.

Vintage Orphanage consists of items that belonged to me in the 1980s, toys and housewares from the 1950s-1980s from my parents' house, various items from the 1980s or older that belonged to my grandma in her 96 years on the planet, and the occasional thrift find that I've rescued from destruction, cleaned up, and given a second chance at a good home.

I ship worldwide!

IF YOU DO NOT SEE AN ITEM PRICE ON A LISTING PAGE, THAT ITEM HAS ALREADY SOLD. Etsy archives sold listings, and search engines can still pick them up, but you will not be able to find a price because the item is no longer available. As this is a vintage shop, I don't have additional quantities of anything available, unless a specific listing states otherwise. I apologize for any inconvenience.

This shop is entirely dedicated to my vintage items. It stemmed from my original shop, http://ArtWeekend.etsy.com, which (when time permits) solely holds my own art, photography, and (non-vintage) supplies. I do combine shipping between both shops whenever possible! Please feel free to visit my other shop to view my listings and positive feedback rating. :)

I have not gotten to open the box yet, it was set aside and there's been a lot of chaos w helping w my daughter's just turned 1 yr old and her second one coming early and being a preemie, too. I wanted to say that this seller is helpful, pleasant to work with and happy to come across these items :)

About

helping our vintage items find new & loving adoptive homes

I come from a long line of packrats. Neat ones, though; not hoarders. We took good care of our things, because they had value to us. 95% of the items I sell here at Vintage Orphanage on Etsy have belonged to myself, my mother, one of my sisters, or my grandma exclusively. I do occasional thrifting for fun, but our combined collections are expansive enough to keep me busy for years to come!

Grandma passed away in 2008, at 96 years young. My parents have recently retired and are gradually letting go of decades worth of all sorts of things! As for me, I went through a phase of collecting nostalgia, but never truly had the space to properly display most of it. So we're all kind of letting go at a snail's pace. Many of the items you'll find in my shop have memories attached to them for me or someone else in my family. But the beauty of memories is that our heads can store them in a much more compact manner than we can store the physical reminders. So we appreciate these items for the history they have with us, and we enjoy knowing that someone else will create a new history with them, and appreciate them just as we have over the years!

So that's it. I do it all, in whatever spare time I have between my day job and life in general. I choose it, sort it, clean it, re-share its memories with my family, then I research it, describe it, box it, weigh it, store it, rejoice over its new owner-to-be when it is sold, ship it, and share with my family the good news of its new home and its happy new owner. :)

Shop policies

Last updated on April 25, 2015
First and foremost, my primary policy is service with a smiley face. :)

About my shop:
After cleaning out my grandma's house when she passed away in 2008, I found myself with many vintage pieces of all kinds. She was a packrat just like me! In her 96 years on this planet, she accumulated a lot of interesting things. Likewise, my parents have kept just about anything my sisters and I ever received from the 70s and 80s. They're looking to sell their house and move to a smaller one, so now I'll be helping them by selling many of these items, as well as thinning out their collection of 50s-80s housewares and home decor. I've also had my own collection of 80s memorabilia growing for many years, and have finally convinced myself to let some of it go. I've come to realize that neatly boxing everything up into storage bins isn't the proper way to own a collection. Since I don't have the space to display all these items as they deserve to be displayed, they all need new homes!

While I do enjoy thrifting from time to time, most of what I'm offering at this shop has come from my grandma's collection, my parents' collection, or my own collection.
To the best of my knowledge, everything is smoke-free (unless otherwise noted in a specific listing). I do have multiple pets in my household, but they're kept away from all things Etsy.

This shop is entirely dedicated to my vintage items. It stemmed from my original shop, http://ArtWeekend.etsy.com, which will now solely hold my own art, photography, and (non-vintage) supplies. Please feel free to visit my other shop and check my positive feedback rating. :)

*** HOW I SHIP ***
▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼

UNITED STATES SHIPPING:
▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼

* Nearly everything will be shipped by the United States Postal Service. If I'm using a different carrier, I'll post that in the listing. I strive to find the least expensive shipping method for each item to any destination.

* Shipping cost to your specific location will auto-calculate in your shopping cart. The same goes for combined shipping, where available. (Not all items are able to be shipped together, for various reasons.)

* Delivery confirmation tracking and insurance services are included in most shipping calculations (See http://www.etsy.com/help/article/3363 for info on which countries are not covered by insurance.)

* Delivery confirmation and insurance are NOT available on standard envelopes. Available only on parcels (boxes, bubble mailers, etc.) Notify me if you prefer your item shipped in a package instead of envelope in order to receive these services.

* I reuse clean, odorless mailing supplies as much as possible, but may sometimes need to purchase new supplies for protecting items in the mail. When applicable, the amount I pay will also be factored into the shipping total quoted, and the item's shipping paragraph will state the supply used and its added cost.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING:
▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼

** Buyer is responsible for any/all fees incurred relating to customs/imports/exports. I am neither educated on, nor responsible for, any additional charges/fees/taxes associated with import/export or customs for other countries. Please research your own country's policies on such things prior to purchasing. **

* International shipping is nearly always available, but there are some items that I may not be able to ship outside of the U.S. for various reasons. If I cannot ship a specific item outside the U.S., that information will be stated within the specific listing.

* I use USPS to ship my international packages, as I've found them to be the most reasonably priced for the types of items I sell. If a package weighs 4 pounds or more, or if size restrictions require it, I may only be able to offer International Priority Mail or Global Express Mail. Some items cannot be shipped to other countries at all.
I strive to find the least expensive shipping method for each item to any destination.

* Most international packages are shipped with insurance and delivery confirmation tracking included, wherever applicable. (Tracking status updates are typically available up until the point where your package leaves the United States. This is typically when it is departing a USPS sort facility in either Illinois or New York).

** Please see http://www.etsy.com/help/article/3363 for info on which countries are not covered by insurance. Message me with questions before purchasing, please!

COMBINED SHIPPING
(U.S. or International):
▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼

*I can combine shipping on most items in either of my two Etsy shops!

* Some items simply cannot be shipped together - either due to USPS size/weight restrictions or just for the item's safety.

CONTACT ME:
▼▼▼▼▼▼▼
* Feel free to contact me with any questions regarding combined shipping, international shipping, or anything else.

* When contacting me for quotes, PLEASE remember to mention which items you're interested in, AND your U.S. zip code or country name, so that I am able to calculate the shipping quote with the accurate weight and to your exact location.

*** WHEN I SHIP ***
▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼

* I can generally ship within 24 hours of receiving a cleared payment.

* Obvious exceptions include Sundays and holidays or if I'm out of town at the time your order is placed.

* Sometimes work might prevent me from getting to the post office when I'd like to. I apologize in advance for that. As I said, I try my best to swing same or next-day item shipment; I just can't guarantee it.

* As a general policy, 48 hours (business days only) would be the maximum delay from the day your order is placed to the day your order leaves my hands and begins its trip to meet you, unless in a case of emergency or extenuating circumstances.

* You will receive a shipment notification email which will include the date your package will be mailed and the delivery confirmation status update tracking number to follow its progress, if applicable.

* If you DON'T receive a shipment notification email within 48 hours from your purchase, please contact me THROUGH ETSY so I can send you the details a second time by another method.
Refunds and Exchanges
Sorry, I do not accept returns/exchanges at this time.

Damaged/lost packages do happen from time to time, and of course this is out of my hands once I release a package to the post office for delivery. However, I've been on both ends of lost packages, and I know how disappointing this can be. Each situation will be handled individually. Should your purchase be lost in shipment, please CONTACT ME before leaving any kind of feedback or contacting Etsy directly. 9 out of 10 times, "lost" packages show up eventually, and may just have required extra handling time for one reason or another. However, I'm reasonable and do know when a customer deserves a full or partial refund. :)

Additional policies and FAQs
NOTE: I am located in Oshkosh, Wisconsin in the United States of America. Many countries assess duties and taxes on imported packages. If you are an international buyer, please understand that I cannot be held responsible for any charges you may incur in order to receive your package. You are solely responsible for any customs fees/taxes on the items you purchase from my shop.
