About

The Vintage Pattern Place

I started the Vintage Pattern Place when we were living at Edwards AFB, in the middle of California's Mojave Desert. To be honest, I accidentally went a little bit overboard buying vintage patterns on EBay- it's easy to do when you have too much time on your hands ! And trust me, there wasn't much to do in the desert!! I retyped a few patterns that I was planning on using for Christmas gifts (the print on some of the old patterns is truly terrible, and trying to read the print was making me cross-eyed), and I realized there was probably a market for this sort of thing. Sure enough, after searching around online and learning a little bit about copyright law, I was in business. The thing I love the most about my pattern business is that it essentially funds my knitting habit. I'm a total pattern hoarder, and this is such a great excuse for collecting them!

When we moved to Albuquerque, NM for my husband's 2nd Air Force assignment, I had to leave my job behind- I was unemployed for the first time since I was 15 years old... and even then I had regular babysitting gigs! With the extra time on my hands, I designed a pattern for and started sewing Christmas stockings to keep myself busy... 6 months later I was able to land my latest, greatest full time position. I'm so grateful to Etsy for giving me something to keep myself sane with while I was out of work! The extra cash didn't hurt either as we were settling into our new home. These days I do most of my designing, sewing, and listing new items on the weekends.

Hi everyone! My name is Meredith, and I have been knitting and crocheting for around 5 years (roughly since I started college). I found an appreciation for vintage knits not too long ago, and am happy to share my stash of patterns with the rest of the world.

Hard copies of these old patterns are becoming increasingly rare, and high quality scans help to preserve the history of these crafts for posterity. I hope you enjoy them!

Shipping
For electronic patterns sent via email, you will need an updated version of Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and print your pattern.

I am in the process of converting all PDF patterns to "instant download". If you see "1PDF Included" just below the "add to cart", or "instant download" superimposed over the photograph in the upper left-hand corner, know that an email will automatically be sent to the email address you use at checkout. *If you would like a printed copy of the pattern mailed to you, leave a note in the "Notes" section while you are checking out. I will do my best to mail you a hard copy of the pattern the next day.

For copies that are not set up for instant download yet, I will do my best to email out your order within 24 hours. Again, leave a note in the "Notes" section at checkout if you would prefer that I mail you a hard copy.

For emailed copies, please be sure to double-check your email address during the checkout process. If you experience an email delivery delay that is greater than 24 hours, please alert me, as there may be an issue with the email (or, I am human... I may have accidentally forgotten!).

For all other media (originals, and printed copies), I mail packages daily Monday through Friday via USPS. For US customers, please alert me if your package has not arrived within one week!

**Please pay attention to any vacation announcements on the main page of my shop! I cannot process orders when I am out of town, and the announcement will indicate when I will return and when you should be expecting your order!!
Refunds and Exchanges
If your purchase arrives damaged in any way, please contact me for a replacement within 3 days (in the case of reproductions) or a refund (in the case of originals).

I guarantee 100% satisfaction. If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase or the level of customer support I provide, please let me know and I will either refund or exchange your purchase.
Additional policies and FAQs
I love to hear feedback on my products (good and bad), because I am continually searching for ways to improve my products and services. If you have any ideas for me, let me know!

All of my reproduced works are in the public domain, therefore you have every right to sell your finished products anywhere you please.

You do NOT have permission to distribute or sell my reproduced patterns. If you would like multiple copies of a pattern, e.g., for a knitting group, please message me for a steeply discounted rate for additional copies.

I have some originals for sale that are still under copyright protection. This means that I do not have the authority to grant permission for the sale of finished works. I have clearly indicated in each listing which books these are- please abide by international copyright laws. Do not sell finished works from patterns still under copyright without express permission from the copyright owner!
